I know I sound like a homer, but lay the 8 points guys. I was at the game on Sat and Michigan really is that good. Oregon may be a decent football team, and will likely present more problems than ND offensively, but with Ngata out UM's OL should destroy their front seven. And if team Oakley puts 8-9 in the box, forget it. Navarre and Edwards/Avant will torch them all day. Oregon will score, but don't expect to see the big plays as UM's safeties are the best in the nation (yes, even better than Miami's). I'm thinking 45 - 20 ish.

Thoughts?

Would have to agree, I see Michigan by 2 touchdowns+. Is Mich. that good or ND that bad? This is not 1 of the better Duck teams ,however they always play good at home.

ND's offense is lousy, but their defense is very solid and has one of the best front 7's in the country. UM did whatever they wanted to them offensively. Score very easily could have been 49-0 (fumble at 3 yd line and FG after having first and goal at the 3).

We'll find out more about ND in the coming weeks, but remember, they beat Wazzu who demolished a pretty good Colorado team.

Only 8? I gotta tell ya, I don't know much about the Ducks but I know Michigan inside and out.

Michigan is that good this year but that's not to say that they'll blow everyone out of the water. One big difference in this years team is depth. The Wolverines have talent on the bench from QB to linemen.

Another thing I've noticed is how Carr isn't calling off the dogs this year like he's prone to doing. We're used to seeing that conservative "Loyd Ball" play calling but so far, he's been going for the kill.

One thing though....last week, the world was on ND because that was way too many points, and it turned out to be a sucker bet. So I ask you.... Is 8 points not enough this week?

Regarding Lloydball, I don't think he can call off the dogs even if he wants to now. In the past, UM would get a lead and run-run-pass punt. Now he does the same thing, only Perry or Underwood rips off between 10-20 yards on those first two runs. The OL dominance prevents him from keeping the score down.

UM has been a lousy road dog, and I think thats why the number is where its at. Throw the trends out the window. this is not the Michigan we've seen since Moeller left. Way more speed/talent/depth and even more importantly experience. Methinks they will continue to cover until the public picks up on it.

The fact that Oregon has one of the best home-field advantages in cfb and that they wacked Arizona on the road probably contribute to the line being where it is as well. I'm not sure most people realize just how bad Arizona is.

CWOOD...THIS IS BY NO MEANS A CRACK AT YA BOYS..AS I THINK THEY HAVE A SOLID ..SOLID TEAM...

BUT A LITTLE DEVILS ADVOCATE...

IMO THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST OFFENSIVE UNTI MICHIGAN WILL FACE THUS FAR......I DONT THINK THIER SECONDARY HAS BEEN TESTED LIKE THEY WILL BE SAT VS THE DUCKS...THAT IS NOT TO SAY THAT THEY WONT BE UP TO THE TASK...BUT JUST DONT THINK THEY HAVE SEEN A TEAM THAT CAN THROW AS EFFECTIVE AS DUCKS THUS FAR...

NOW MICHIGAN GOING ON THE ROAD AS A FAVORITE OF OVER A TOUCHDOWN IS NO EASY TASK IN GENERAL...IN ADDITION ..MICHIGAN IS JUST 4-15-1 ATS AS A ROAD FAVE SINCE 1999..

DUCKS ARE JUST 4-10 ATS AT HOME OVER LAST THREE YEARS BUT I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THEY HAVE BEEN OVER TOUCHDOWN DOGS..

DUCKS ARE ALSO 8-3 ATS VS BIG TEN IN LAST 11 GAMES
AND ARE ON A 17 GAME NON-CONFERENCE HOME WINNING STREAK..

ONLY TRENDS AND PLENTY TO GO THE OTHER WAY NO DOUBT ...BUT IF THE LINE CONTINUES TO GO UP BECAUSE EVERYONE IS ON MICHIGAN ...DUCKS HAVE TO BE LOOKED AT AS A NICE HOME DOG....BUT WAY TOO EARLY IN THE WEEK TO MAKE THAT ASSESSMENT...

THIS WILL BE AN INTERESTING GAME TO KEEP AN EYE ON..

GOOD LUCK THIS SAT..

this is definetly a pro-michigan crowd, so sorry to pollute your thread...i like oregon to cover the number!
michigan is good, i'll start with that. now 3 games in, all at home they haven't been tested yet with an offense that passes as well as oregon's. if you like trends, here are 2 interesting ones:
lloyd carr's 7 year career at michigan as away fav 11-19-1 & 1-12 ATS as favs in 1st away!
should be an awesome game as will the ucla vs. oklahoma game. good luck!

Appreciate the input guys. I would feel worse if everyone was on UM!

I really think that the reason this number has value is because of the above trends keeping it down. It is the defenses first test, but methinks Oregon will have to score a TON of points to cover 7'. Their defense was bad with Ngata last year. What are they going to be like against real comp w/o him?

FYI it looks like this number is heading down to 7.

Didn't look into this game too much yet, but to verify some of the above by cooz, the numbers I'm looking at show that Oregon has only been dogs of a touchdown or more twice in the past 5 seasons. Both of those games were on the road and coincidentally they covered both of those and what's even more interesting is the fact that the most points they've ever gotten at Home has been +1 over the past 5 seasons. Autzen Stadium is one of the toughest places to play at. I know you hear that a lot with a lot of different stadiums, but you have to respect that factor to a degree.

GL this weekend.

Michigan better be ready to play football... Oregon will spread the field and take shots down the field all afternoon.

Oregon will score points... the big question is, Can Michigan keep up with them..

let em take their shots downfield....Marlin will be ready.

Seriously, I read that Oregon's stud wr is questionable for the game. What's wrong with him? (Sammy something)

First, I can only assume UM will be ready to play in this one. The seniors have too much experience losing on the road to inferior competition to allow the team to lose focus.

Secondly, Oregon better not take too many shots down the field. They need to be patient and take them when they are there. So far Mich has been a zone team, playing lots of cover two/three and letting the front seven take care of themselves. Oregon will need to run the ball and throw short to the TE/RB in order to tighten up the safeties before going deep. Sound tackling and discipline will be the key for UM's D. Let them have the underneath routes and punish the receivers when they catch it.

Oregon will pull out all the stops hosting a national powerhouse and their homefield edge is considerable. Michigan due for a slight letdown following last weeks romping of ND. I lean toward Oregon here, but will keep an eye on this line until kickoff.

Everyone and thier brother and there mothers brother and their brothers from another mother will be on Michigan this weekend at -8. Do you think the lines makers don't know this. After Michgan, one of the premire programs pasted another overrated premire progam Notre Dame last week in the spotlite game of the week they know everyone will be on Mich. At -8 it looks like the play of the week, the sure fire lock....but the lines makers are smarter then us. This is the first time Mich will be tested on the road this year and it's not easy going into Oregon in a big game spotlight. Watchout Michigan suckers , The Quack Attack will cover the 8. I say Mich will win, but it will be much closer then many will think. I see it at 3 or 4 points. Besides Michigan will come back down to earth when they visit Kinnick Stadium on OCT 4TH!

GO HAWKS!

Clearly every one is on UM. That's that why the line moved from 8 to 7'.
