I was watching the game last Saturday when Davis went slap off on the official for not calling a foul on Jules Camara (replay shows a no call was correct). I first want to say that I thought the referee showed great restraint and gave Davis several chances before T'ing him up twice.
Davis appologized the same day saying he was wrong, ashamed, and very sorry. He never touched the official and mainly just yelled adamantly at him in the middle of the court.
I think in the heat of the moment he just lost it a little. I genuinely think he is sorry as well as ashamed of himself.
The Big X wants to suspend him for 6 games. That's not a little harsh, but a LOT harsh. Way too much punishment. If he has to be suspended, 1 game is more than enough. 6 is an outrage.
His reaction was because he is a competitor and he thought he was wronged and also because it was Kentucky. Big deal, so he yelled and ranted a little. It's not like he hit the official or poked him in the chest or incited his players to fight! I think him looking like an ass is punishment enough.
I generally don't like IU, but I hate to see anybody wronged. 6 games is a travesty.
