I read some preliminary OC candidates as Justin Fuente (TCU) and Paul Chryst (Wisc), as well as Kragthorpe.

Seems like Fuente has performed well , but level of competition scares me. Chryst looks like a winner to me, but he graduated from Wisc, so may be a difficult pull. Of course, Crowton was making 500K, and Miles just received an expanded budget for staff salaries, so there should be enough $$ to bring him south. Kragthorpe failed miserably last time out with a good QB, so I am leary.

looks like Miles visit to Mich was a money pull and looks like it worked.

He received a 2 year extension at his current salary of $3.751, and more $$ for assistants, plus the annual rollover was removed from the contract making the 7 years guranteed. Anyone who finds Miles to be dumb, is as foolish as those who thought GW Bush was dumb.

Your blind hatred of a man that you do not know personally continues to strike me as odd. No one said he is a genius, but the fact of the matter is a degree from Meech is not normally attained by dumb guy, nor do dumb guys reach the pinnacle of their profession, regardless of what that profession may be:0008

We're heading to the Bulldog or Mandina's this afternoon. Will let you know which. No Miles talk, please:mj07:

Jim Harbaugh would disagree with you

I like Les

I like him to. I'll explain.....He is quirky, handles the clock poorly, and could improve as an orator, but he recruits well, wins 10.33 games annually and runs the program with class (i.e. he does not fire coaches, rather allows them to put out feelers for available jobs). Is he the best coach in the nation? Hell no, but listening to folks around here, my friend LABurns included, you would think he is a know-nothing pile of dung.

stoking the fire.......i obviously do not have "blind hatred" of Miles - i do, however, have an opinion of him as a coach, and it is an opinion that is pretty widely shared - some people have changed their opinion of him based on his 11 win campaign but i'm not one of them

that being said, i agree not to bring up Miles, not sure how often i ever brought him up in the 1st place - but do like to throw my opinion in when i see people throwing tons of praise at him b/c i have seen it all 1sthand and i'm confident in my appraisal process of him as a coach

I was ANTI miles for the past few years. His clock management disaster at Ole miss really crushed me. This past week, when looking at possible replacements I fell in love with Miles all over again. In Les Miles first road game he called for a fake punt against ASU from his own 17 yd line! Loved Him! Next game he goes ultra conservative and pisses away a huge lead and we loose to Tenn At home in a game the state needed- hated him. In 2007 he backs in to a NC but coaches his ass off and beats Ohio State in New Orleans- Love Him. This year he nearly blows the Tenn game- hate him, but out coaches Saban and defeats Bama- Love Him.

He runs a very clean program, his players graduate, he recruits extremely well and his a high integrity guy. He isn't a TOP 3 coach in the SEC but you don't have to be! You have to recruit well and hire good assistants, he has done that. I am very happy he is staying as our coach!
