(WGR 550) -- Ryan Miller has missed one game with a tight knee and even though he's improving, he could miss Friday against Montreal too. Miller decided it was time to get his knee feeling better because he's been feeling discomfort since September, "It's something where I want to feel comfortable because it?s basically been since training camp, a guy falls on your knee and you're playing and you're not entirely comfortable and I don't want to do that all year. I want to get it back to where it's feeling good."

Miller practiced Thursday in Amherst and he said, "It felt a little better. I just keep going day by day here and see how everything is feeling."

As far as if he could play Friday he said, "I'm improving so if I'll wake up tomorrow and go from there."

The thing Miller and the Sabres have to balance is how worth it is it to throw him in net and risk further injury. Miller said, "I don't know, it's kind of a pivotal point. We have to get moving and I obviously want to be a part of it. It's trying to balance what's good for me and what can help the team. Right now, I think it's improving and I want to hopefully wake up and feel good tomorrow, but I want to just get through today and then get to tomorrow. We got two games on the weekend, we got two games in the middle of next week so we got a lot of hockey to play so if I feel good and I feel ready, I want to get into a game, I just don't know where or when that's going to be yet."

Patrick Lalime was passed over for the start Wednesday against Boston for Jhonas Enroth. Now I know Enroth was a second round pick in the 2006 draft and is highly thought of, but his numbers in Portland were not good this season. He's 4-2-0 with a .895 save percentage and 3.51 goals against. Buffalo native David Leggio is 5-0-0 with a 2.50 goals against and .925 save percentage. So Buffalo calls up the draft pick and puts him in goal instead of the man playing better.

Ruff starting Enroth was a move that mimics his players, when things get tough there's pure panic. Lalime has always been a good teammate and didn't want to say too much today, "It's part of hockey. I'm not saying I was happy with the decision yesterday, but sometimes organizations try to do things to spark the team and I'm behind this. It's not the first time I've seen it so what ever works for the team. At this point now you just want to get things turned around."

I wondered if two games was enough time for the Sabres to make a decision and pass over him. Lalime said, "I'm not going to get into this, it was a decision they made and it's part of hockey. I'm here to play hockey so when the tell me to go, I'll go."
