More than 200 desert racers will head north Saturday to the Moapa Travel Center for the Mint 400 in the Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts series.

The once-legendary Mint was reborn three years ago and will have a race car parade, technical inspection and car displays from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today near the Fremont Street Experience.

The race will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday near the Moapa Travel Plaza. Shuttle buses will transport spectators to three viewing areas along the 105-mile course.

Highlights of the race will air May 5 on Versus (38).

■ KURT BUSCH TO BE HONORED -- Las Vegas native Kurt Busch will be honored April 14 at the Mel Larson Night of Champions banquet at the Palms. The 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion will join Larson, Ken Black and Carroll Shelby as those honored at the annual fundraiser for the Las Vegas chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

Call 632-8242 for more information.

■ SUPER CHEVY WINNERS -- Michael Jackson of Las Vegas and Justin Lamb of Henderson were among the winners last weekend in the Super Chevy Show at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's dragstrip.

Jackson drove his 1979 El Camino to first place in the Bracket 2 division, and Lamb's Chevrolet-powered dragster was best in Bracket 1. Other winners were Mike Maggio of San Dimas, Calif., in Pro Street and Jason Brooks of Upland, Calif., in Street D.O.T.
