Went to the Jake last night to see the Tribe and WhiteSox play. The Tribe is in complete disarray. They are not hitting and there doesn't seem to be any spark in them. There were a couple of details that caught my eye last night. In the seventh inning the Tribe had the bases loaded with 2 out and Branyon was at the plate. He had a 2-2 count on him. Thome was at third base. Thome takes a lead down the line then stops to see the pitch. Branyon struck out. Thome is still in a "ready to run" stance about 10 feet down the line. As the White Sox players start coming off the field, Thome looks around as if he didn't know that this was the third out. A lack of concentration has developed on this team.
Between the 4th and 6th innings the Tribe sent 9 men to the plate and 7 of 9 of the batters swung on the first pitch. It took 12 pitches to get 9 men out in three innings. They are not even trying to make the pitcher work.
They are starting to have defensive lapses. There was a routine fly ball to left center that neither Branyon or Bradly wanted. Branyon recovered and made a basket catch with his back to home plate. In the 8th inning Bradly misplayed a screeming line drive off the wall hit by Frank Thomas. What should have been a long single turned into a triple.
The fundementals are not there. Unless this team gets a shot in butt from something or soemone they are going to be in for a long summer.

In his last 3 games Nomo for LA has given up 3 earned runs in 21 innings. Take away his opening day start and his ERA is around 1.30 for the last 3 games. Fogg for the Pirates is 2-0 in 3 starts for the Pirates with a 1.89 ERA. His dominance continues from the end of last year. He came up to the majors in September of last year and in 11 relief appearences pitched 13 innings of relief, had 17 strikeouts and 3 walks with an ERA of 2.03. He has converted nicely to the starting rotation this year. I see this as a pitchers dual with a very low scoring game.
Good Luck to All
