SD...Taking the Padres based on the stats of Tomko so far this year. He is 1-1 with a 1.40 ERA. In the 4 games he has pitched he has given up 17 hits in 26 innings, has 24 strikouts and has only given up 10 walks. In his last outing against the Dodgers he went 7 innings, giving 2 hits, 0 runs, 13 strikouts and 2 walks. Villone on the other had has not pitched well despite his 2-2 record. In his 4 games so far the only good outing he has had was against the Reds on April 8th. Taking that game away his ERA is would be around 7.10. In his last 2 outings he has pitched only 9 innings, giving up 7 runs, 10 hits, 9 walks and only 5 strikeouts.
Bos......This one is interesting. Burkett hasn't pitched against TB since 1999 when he was with Texas. That year he was 0-2 against Tampa. His ERA was over 20 against the Drays that year.
He is certainly a better pitcher than that looking at his last 2 years in Atlanta. Boston at home, better hitting lineup, and a rejuventated Burkett. Looks easy from here.
Min......Rick Reed has always started out strong in April. He is 2-1 in 4 starts and Min. is 3-1 in those 4 starts. His only loss was to Clevelnad on April 10th when he gave up 8 runs in 5 innings. Cornejo for Detroit is 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA. In his last outing he went 2 innings giving up 6 runs and 3 walks. Detroit is still a very bad team
Mil......Estes for the Mets has not been impressive. He is giving up way too many hits. In 23 innings so far this year he has given up 27 hits. He has only gotton out of the 6th once. Rusch on the other had has been pretty steady, a work horse so far. In 4 games he has avereged 7.2 innings a game. Guess I,m not convinced on the Mets. Too inconsistent.
KC............Just a play on a better team playing at home against a rookie on his first start this year.
Good Luck to All
