Wow, there were about three sides and five totals that looked playable..... But, as IE said on his page it is time to tread carefully because you just never know who will be coming out of the pen with three extra days of rest coming up.
I settled on these three plays:
Mtl Expos Vs. Tor Blue Jays Over 10 1/2 -107
Risking 2.40 units to win 2.25 units
I don't like taking too many overs where the line is 10 1/2 or more, but this one more than qualifies. Halladay and Yoshii, wow if there was ever an arguement about not enough pitching in the majors these two are poster boys. The kicker to this play is that both bullpens, especially the Expos are exhausted. Also, it looks like the Jays will be without their two long men out of the pen, File & Quantrill.
Bos Red Sox Vs. Atl Braves Over 9 1/2 +100
Risking 2.25 units to win 2.25 units
Marquis just threw 38 pitches of relief, so he is coming off three days of rest. Plus his last two starts he threw 104 and 118 pitches. The Braves used quite a bit of their pen yesterday and in the Phillies series. Next, the Red Sox have absolutely no one rested in their bullpen. Let's couple that with Nomo throwing 115 ptiches against the Blue Jays and coming off four days of rest. Last start, it also looked as if Nomo was losing his control.
Pitt Pirates Vs. CWS Over 9 +100
I had the line at 10 1/2, so in my book it is a run and a half too low. Also, getting even money is a huge advantage. Schmidt has pitched well, but looks like he will get shelled today. Coming off 110 and 127 pitch outings and four days rest, to me looks like a recipe for disaster. Here comes an overs best friend, the Pirates bullpen. Next, the White Sox will be without their main long man Bobby Howry. Without him you get Vining and Garland, which helps considerably when you have an over.
Good luck and be careful out there,
HC
