Minnesota -180:
A lot of interesting little angles in this game today. Don't let the high moneyline scare ya in this one. Should be higher in my opinion.
First of all, these 2 teams are completely different teams at home and on the road.
Detroit is just 2-10 on the ROAD this year.
Minnesota is 12-1 at HOME this year, including 8 straight wins at home.
Minnesota is also 8-1 overall at home vs the Tigers the past 2 years.
Twins are also averaging a whopping 6.5 Runs Per Game vs Righties at Home this year vs the Tigers 4 Runs Per Game vs Righties.
Detroit in their last 10 games is hitting just .246 vs righties while Minnesota is hitting a respectable .273 vs righties the last 10.
Minnesota has had a solid bullben all year, sporting an 3.00 ERA, vs the Tigers bullpen which has been very shaky at 5.88
Nate Cornejo gets the start for the Tigers. Cornejo has just plain aweful numbers in his Major League career. Cornejo has started 13 games in the Majors and hitters have a career batting average of .331 vs him
Not only has Cornejo allowed a ton of hits to batters, he has also had problems with his control. In those 13 starts, he has walked 37 batters in just 59.2 innings.
The Twins probable lineup today is batting .318 as a team vs Cornejo over their careers, while the Tigers probable lineup is batting just .250 vs Radke over their careers.
Cornejo is just horrible on the road. He has 6 career starts on the road and has allowed 37 HITS, 16 WALKS, 26 RUNS in just 19 Innings Pitched
The road ERA is 11.37 !!
Cornejo also has never pitched in a dome. Don't really know if this has any value, but gotta feel it will only hurt him.
Cornejo's last start was at home and was his best pitching performance of his career and also came against this Twins team just 6 days ago. That was a game in which Cornejo got out of a couple big jams early in the game and Detroit put up some early runs which both of these gave him more confidence as the game went on. This last start vs the Twins will hurt Cornejo today for several reasons.
Cornejo faced 38 batters that last game, and Twins will have a lot better idea of how he pitches, especially with the game being played just 6 days ago....gotta feel the Twins will put some big numbers up today, especially playing at home.
Cornejo in that last game also mad an enormous amount of pitches. For some reason they let him make 119 pitches!! Normally this might not hurt so much the very next start, but when you look at the fact he only made 57 pitches the prior game, look for an early exit today, possibly allowing the flood gates to open for more scoring with the less than stellar Detroit bullpen.
Look for Radke to pitch a good game today. Radke has always fared a bit better at home anyways and has always done well vs Detroit in the past.
Minnesota also looks to be riding high on confidence after the come from behind victory yesterday. This is a team that knows it's never out of the game and won't back down if they get down a couple.
Also gonna start applying a unique system I came up with involving previous Home Umps that I've been tracking(too hard to describe in detail), and Radke so far this year has had a 61-39% disadvantage in his starts this season...so chances are he will possibly benefit from the Ump more than he has so far this season. Been using a variation of this in totals this year.
