nice card yesterday; today's looks good also - i like the braves under play. how do you feel about coming back with the chi/mil game over again today? woods has had his problems of late, especially with walks. home plate ump tschida is just about always good for 7-8 bb/g, which should mean that woods will spend a lot of time tonight pitching out of the stretch. figueroa's problem has been the gopher ball - 12 hr's in 42 innings - not too good when combined with his whip over 2 last 3 starts. sammy must be licking his chops. neither bullpen is anything to write home about. also probably rain tonight will have some impact on the starters. 8 is a nice modest number in this situation imo.

ndn, if you get a chance, why the Marlins today? I was leaning toward the Phillies.

Nice day yesterday. Good luck tonight.

Sorry, been away from the comp.

Loop.....you look to be right on the totals again today. The Mil-Chi OVER is the right way on that one again today. I had a very strong lean towards the Over and your hitting the keys right on the nose. Even though Woods doesn't give up too many hits per innings pitched, you gotta believe he's gonna allow plenty of baserunners on with Tschida behind the plate. In the one game last season with Tschida as the Home Ump, Kerry Wood walked a whopping 7 batters, and like you said Figueroa has been giving up the long ball of late which matches up well with the Cubs little power surge. The only reason I'm staying away is the "Kerry Wood' factor. Sounds stupid, but I haven't won a game when he was pitching, not matter what I bet for so long, I dedided to just stay clear...but it's definately the way to go.

Heyward......Lot of keys and angles in this Florida game, and don't really have time to get to all of them, but will share a few.

Terry Adams may not be 100%. He left last game with neck spasms. But even if that's not bothering him, he still is a pitcher that gives up a lot of hits and I don't really think Florida will have a problem hitting him.

Also, a big factor is Adams has only gone more than 6 innings once this season, which is a huge factor considering the Philly pen which has a 4.96 ERA....not good Philly considering with Adams you're leaving a third of the game to the pen even if Adams pitches well.

Adams also is just horrible in situational pitching this season which doesn't match up with the good clutch hitting Florida team.

Adams with runners on.....hitters batting .347
Adams with runners in scoring position....hitters batting .304
Adams with runners in scoring pos and 2 out....hitters batting .346

Beckett may not be 100% either with that pesky blister, but this guy is a bargain at -105.

Beckett's career road ERA is actually 2 runs lower than his home ERA which shows you the young pitcher is tough as nails mentally.

Also, that last outing, alot of coaches and others thought Beckett was tipping off his pitches. He was holding his glove in a different postion, so hitters could tell when he would throw a fastball or breaking pitch. How else do you explain how he gave up 8 hits in 1 inning? Beckett's a guy that the league is still only hitting .201 career off of after that last outing. Before that outing, the hitters were only hitting .179 off Beckett over his 12 major league starts!!

These are some of the main angles in my decision...but not the only ones thought. I think you can Look for a fresh Beckett to be a lot better in this one....this line's a bargain.
