James Paxton (back) will not start for the Mariners on Tuesday night against the Giants.
Paxton was supposed to be activated off the disabled list ahead of Tuesday's game, but it won't happen. Mariners manager Scott Servais is expected to offer an update later. Roenis Elias is going to take the mound instead and will likely pitch a couple of innings in what figures to be a bullpen game for Seattle. Paxton has been out since July 12 with lower back inflammation.
