NFL YTD (16-11-1)
Not a great weekend as I went 1-1-1. It could have been worse though as the Falcons got a little frisky and decided to give TB all they wanted.
Actually going with a couple of picks tonight. I don't normally do this but one thought keeps creeping into my head... how are the Jets going to score tonight?!?! Going with that thought, here are my picks...
NE (-2/Under 45) - Like I said, NE's defense has been playing lights out and the Jets O is just terrible. NE is coming off a shutout at home against the Bucs, in which they didn't allow the Bucs to get anything going at all. Don't know if they will shut the Jets out, but there really is no excuse for them to give up more than 10-13 points. Their defense is the healthiest it's been in a long time and Bruschi and Seymour, et al. should bottle up the Jets running game pretty well. That leaves it up to Bollinger and Testes, testes, 1, 2. The Pats secondary isn't great but will they need to be? I don't see ol' Brooks or Stone Feet having much time to even get off a throw, just like Baby Simms didn't have any time last week.
I don't doubt that the Jets will play hard, but this game really doesn't mean much to them. This IS a big game for the Pats. They would love to jump up to the 3 spot in the seedings with a win tonight and next week (and a KC win). And one last thought... the Pats play with more pride than any team I have seen in years. Most other defenses in the NFL would have laid down last week when they got the 28-point lead. Not the Pats. They closed it out and made sure they got the shutout. They've been playing like that for years now. I love the fact that they don't let up. Probably the only defense in the NFL that plays for 60 minutes.
NE (-9) - Ok, all of the same thoughts still apply. This bet is being placed just in case the Pats roll it up. I wouldn't be surprised if their D creates a few turnovers tonight, which could lead to some easy points. Like I said I don't expect the Jets to score many points, so this bet is being placed in case the Pats roll up something like 35 points.
As always, good luck with your picks.
