gotta post the first couple games now.

Armed Forces Bowl

middle tenn (+6.5) 2 units. I think we'll see a big motivational edge for the blue raiders. last year, they won 8 games, including a win at georgia tech, and didn't make a bowl game. this year, they won their last 5 games to get here and they should be pretty fired up to be playing.

obviously navy can run the ball effectively, but mtsu also has a good ground game, averaging 208 yards/game and 5 yards/carry. slight edge to mtsu's run defense, as they allow 4.2 yards/carry opposed to 4.6 yards/carry for navy, but who knows how they'll handle the option? as always, that's the big question mark for teams playing the service acadamies (and georgia tech). oh, look at that, mtsu won at georgia tech last year. so they've seen an option attack. and it looks like they did a great job making adjustments at halftime, as gt scored tds on 3 of their 5 first half possessions, but only 1 td on 7 second half possessions. I think that's a huge advantage for a team that's seen the option, plus the extra couple weeks to prepare for it.

the more I look at this game, the more I like mtsu.

Music City Bowl

Music City Bowl

ole miss (-3) 1 unit. I really don't like this game. both teams coming off a 7-point OT loss to their in-state rival. hard to say who will be more fired up for the music city bowl. a smart man probably wouldn't bet this game. but don't worry, smitty is not a smart man.

without any clear motivational edge, i'll take the sec team with a few weeks to prepare for the option.

Alamo Bowl

Alamo Bowl

thanks, bender! I'll watch the music city bowl right after I finish posting the late games. I just watched the first game. wow. what an uninspired effort from the mtsu offense. just disgusting. ok, moving on....

texas (+14.5) 1 unit
ML 1 unit to win 4.8 after a solid start to bowl season, I've really cooled off. which sucks, because I almost always lose beginning new years day. this is when i need to build up the bankroll. for this game, I'm purely counting on the longhorns wanting to send brown out as a winner and the ducks simply not wanting to be here. to go from national championship hopes to a bcs game to the Alamo bowl.... will the ducks really be playing hard tonight?

Holiday Bowl

Holiday Bowl

Arizona st (-16) 2 units. I just won't learn, will I? laying dd in a bowl game... good way to lose money. but, wow, was I unimpressed by the red raiders this year. after starting 7-0 (without beating a single bowl team) and getting into the top 10, texas tech finally starting playing good teams. and promptly lost their last 5 games, SU and ATS. after the Oklahoma game, they weren't even competitive. they lost their last 4 by 18, 23, 29, and 25 points. sure, az st may be just another soft pac 12 team, but I don't see texas tech as being able to punch them in the mouth and making a game of it.
