Oh about 30 years or so ago I was Cruzing the islands back when I owned my boat and I pulled into Port of Spain Trinadad to check the place out.Right beside the port was where the National Cricket Team of Trinadad practiced thier National Sport.
I was watching them practice one morning so I walked down to the field and told them I was an American passing thru and didn't know shit from shinola about Cricket but I would appreciate it it they let me swing at the ball a couple of times. These guys were cool as hell so they dressed me up in the fitting garb and showed me how to hold the bat as I was holding it like a baseball bat and showed me how to swing and all that Blah, Blah and laughed profusely at me while I was taking some practise swings and the BOWLER took a running start a bounced the ball right at me. I took a mighty Babe Ruth swing at the top of the bounce and crushed the MFING ball over thier fence and out of the park....well they were all dumb struck the bowler said he had taken it easy on me and BLAH, BLAH so this time he was going to give me the full go. He gets back comes running at me like the house is on fire and does one of the hop skips and kangaroo jumps and let's one fly I waited until the ball reached the top of its bounce once again and smashed the SOB clean out the whole practise area...LOL that's Buddy the Amercian blasted 2 monster I don't know what they call em in TRINADAD but in the States we call em Home Runs and dropped the bat and told the guys thank you and when they got thru practicing I was buying beer at the bar at the end of the street which they just closed practice and we all went to the bar because the American was buying.in the bar they told me I was a natural and should go out for the TRINY Team..LOL
Guys I still don't know shit from shinnola about Cricket the rules or anything and it looks like a complicated as f..k game to learn the rules but I do know that Buddy is a Natural...LOL
The reason I told that story is because there is a Cricket game on TV right now and it reminded me of the day I showed up the Trinadad Cricket Team
