OtroPex....no problem at all. Yes he was a Bullmastiff and he had the same problem as your Molly. He had surgery done on his back left leg in Jan 2001. After the surgery he always had a bit of a limp but could still get around. Then one day, about 2 years after his surgery, he couldn't put his leg down. He couldn't straightened it out. He never put that leg down again....never. He died operating on three legs. It was so much smaller and had no muscle tone at all. Everyone in the family was questioning each other as to what might have happened if either of us had him out walking. We couldn't come up with the answer. Took him back and forth to the vet's, went for accupture, massage, etc. Nothing showed on the X-rays or blood work, so it was left as a possible soft tissue injury. All this time he never showed any signs of pain. In late April of this year he had swelling where the surgery was. In a matter of 2 days it had tripled in size. Without getting into a real long story about Jake's vet....he saved Jake and ourself's alot of unnessacery ?? by being honest. What he had was a tumour on his knee that was growing so rapidly. When our vet suggested that it was a tumour, he said he's probably got two weeks to live. The scar from the surgery was now showing more and more every day as the tumour got larger. So much that it looked like his leg was going to split. He would lick at his leg constantly but still showed no signs of pain. If he did show signs of pain we would have put him down. He had spirit right up to about 2 hours before he passed on. I had a real hard time dealing with his loss. I have a picture of him in the General Discussion Forum June 29 2005 under Rest In Peace Jakey. If you click on the picture it will enlarge it and you can get an idea of the size of the tumour. From the time it was suggested it was a tumour to the time he passed on, he gained 21 pounds and it wasn't from eating. Our vet really surprised us when he said it was from the tumour. Hope all goes well with Molly, and just a suggestion. If you see her showing or favoring her leg in any way, just remember Jake's story and take it from there. Best of luck, and it was my pleasure in responding to your question. Let's go New England. GL
