Well, this certainly makes for an exciting game. I suspected that North Carolina would come out as a solid favorite in this one so -3 isn't a stretch. Anyone suprised by this only has to look at Sagarin ratings to see their predictor ratings. Of course Vegas doesn't rely on Sagarin but I'd suspect many rating systems had North Carolina as a solid pick over Illinois if it got this far so why wouldn't the Vegas numbers be similar?

Under 73.5 first half BIG

This total seems high to me because I don't think Illinois will allow North Carolina to play an up tempo game. They will slow it down with several passes around the arc looking for quality shots as usual. I will play the first half under instead of the game due to the points that come the final minutes if the game is close and one team starts madly fouling the other.

carolina

they are the best team and will prove it....ill will see their reliance on the three become a problem monday...unc is long and quick everywhere and will contest those 20 foot jumpers and ill had no where else to turn to for scoring(vs arizona they were non-existant from the 5 min mark in the 1st half until the 2 min mark of the second half)...on defense, ill will allow many easy 3 ft bunnies and layups just like vs arizona.

Game is over my friends. . . how Illinois looks so good the entire year then makes the mental mistakes they are making against North Carolina is beyond me. At least the under for the first half came in. . .

See you all when college football starts up

ill was a very good team but had a glaring weakness all year long.....an inside presence. fortunately for them they didn't see many teams that could exploit that weakness (wake was the only team they played who could have and they got behind and went into catch-up mode....big 10 offered nothing from a post presence)

they were totally exposed by arizona, layup after layup after 2 foot bunnies by frye, radinovich and adams....ill should have been eliminated then, but an amazing comeback with some bonehead plays by the cats, never missing a shot and a few ? calls by the refs, kept ill alive....lville had no inside presence to challenge them...unc did. i knew may would destroy them and he did.

the better team won. congrats to unc.

I concur.....gjn, your pregame insights were right on. Even Nick Smith couldn't have matched up with May. Still amazing to think that the Wildcats SHOULD HAVE been in the Final Four if not for that massive collapse/Illini comeback.

Nickel, good call on the 1H under. :)
