We?ll take the highest rated offense in the NL (Cardinals .281 team BA) against the weakest (Reds .230) when circumstances are most favorable. The Red pitching is atrocious (5.84 ERA), while St. Louis has a pair of ace hurlers in Morris (2.45 ERA) and Williams 0.69) who should fare well in this setting. PREFERRED: Morris/Williams.
Milwaukee at Chicago Cubs (3) 5th, 6th, 7th
The Brewers have held their own on the road in night games (5-5, +$770) so we?re inclined to take them in the two scheduled evening contests in this series. The Cubs are losing money at Wrigley (+$185) and if we can get the split at big underdog prices we?ll pocket a nice profit. PREFERRED: Brewers in night games.
Pittsburgh at Houston (4) 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th
The Bucs have a very nice road record in the early going (6-3, +$460) and they check in with the 4th lowest team ERA in the league (3.36 ERA). The Astros are having a tough time vs, righties (8-11, -$705) so we?ll be getting a live underdog here at Astros Park. PREFERRED: Righthanders vs. the Astros.
Philadelphia at Arizona (3) 5th, 6th, 7th
The Phillies are doing much better against righties (5.9 runs per game) than against lefties (only 4.0 runs per game) while the Diamondbacks are the exact opposite (2.9 runs per gams vs. righties, 5.3 vs. lefties). Play this series accordingly. PREFERRED: Phillies when righty meets righty/Diamondbacks when lefty meets lefty.
Detroit at Baltimore (3) 5th, 6th, 7th
With the exception of Jason Johnson (+$910, 2.55 ERA overall) no other Baltimore starter is a winning proposition in Camden. Nothing else in this series is playable as the hapless Tigers continue their march toward immortality. PREFERRED: Johnson.
Boston at Kansas City (3) 5th, 6th, 7th
The Bosox drag their shell-shocked pitching staff into Missouri where the Royals are a sizzling 10-0 (+$1180). Boston has been a disappointment on the road (-$380) so lets back the hot home team and look to take 2 out of 3. PREFERRED: Royals in all games.
