<b>Pirates (Wells) at Cardinals (Benes) </b>

--Pittsburgh is just 26-33 on the road, with the 'under' going 37-19.

--The 'over' is 10-3 this season between these two teams.

--St. Louis is 9-2 its last 11 games after beating Philadelphia Sunday, 5-1.

--The 'under' has cashed in the Cardinals' past three games overall.

--Pittsburgh hurler Kip Wells has struggled to a 1-4 record his last five starts. His last loss occurred against St. Louis as a $1.25 home underdog, 7-3. The right-hander was reached for six runs (five earned) on 10 hits (one home run) over six innings.

--St. Louis hurler Andy Benes was the winning pitcher in that earlier matchup with Wells and the Pirates. Benes went six innings, allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

<b>Athletics (Hudson) at Indians (Baez) </b>

--Oakland is currently riding a five-game winning streak after beating Chicago Sunday, 7-4.

--The Athletics are 32-26 away from home, with the 'under' going 35-19.

--The 'under' is 32-25 when Cleveland is playing at home.

--The 'under' is 5-0-2 in Tim Hudson's last seven road endeavors.

--Hudson finagled a no-decision against Cleveland July 29 despite yielding five runs on 12 hits in six innings. Cleveland eventually prevailed as a $2.40 road underdog, 8-6.

<b>Royals (Byrd) at Blue Jays (Walker) </b>

--Kansas City plummeted to 18-45 on the road after losing to Tampa Bay Sunday, 8-6. The 'over' is 3-0-1 in the Royals' past four games.

--Toronto is just 8-2 its last 10 games heading into Sunday's contest against Texas.

--Byrd tossed a complete-game gem against Toronto July 29 as a $1.20 home favorite, 4-1. The righty allowed the lone run on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

--Toronto's Pete Walker has seen the 'under' cash his last three starts.

<b>Mariners (Moyer) at Tigers (Lima) </b>

--Seattle is 36-22 on the road.

--The Mariners are 3-0 this season against Detroit, with the 'under' going 2-0-1. There was an average of 7.7 runs per game being scored in that three-game set at Safeco Field.

--Detroit has seen the 'over' cash its last five games overall after beating Baltimore Sunday, 7-4.

--Seattle's Jamie Moyer is 7-1 with a 3.63 ERA in 11 road starts.

--The 'under' is 8-2 his last 10 starts overall.

<b>Devil Rays (Wilson) at Orioles (Driskill) </b>

--Tampa Bay is 16-42 on the road.

Scouting Report:
Miller has won a career-high seven consecutive decisions, including a five-inning outing in Houston's 6-3 victory over the Reds on July 12. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 4.33 ERA in six career starts against Cincinnati. Miller is also 15-10 with a 3.97 ERA in 38 career road games. Fernandez, a knuckleballer, earned his only Major League victory at Houston on July 14, allowing three earned runs and seven hits in seven innings in an 8-3 win. He has failed to last five innings in each of his previous two starts, walking a career-high four in each outing.

Scouting Report:
Hernandez, a former Marlin and World Series MVP, is 0-3 in his last six starts. The last win by the right-hander was on July 12 against the Rockies. But in seven starts after the All-Star break, he's actually lowered his ERA from 4.94 to 4.44. Tavarez, a former Giant making his 22nd start, was not involved in a decision in his last start, going six innings against the Rockies. In his last three outings, Tavarez is 1-1, allowing five runs on 19 hits with seven walks and six strikeouts in 18 innings.

Scouting Report:
Glavine, who beat the Rockies at Coors Field on May 17, has won all three of his August starts and has allowed two earned runs in his last 20 innings. He is coming off a seven-inning shutout effort against the Giants. Hampton, who has won his last two starts, is 0-3 with a 4.78 ERA in four career starts at Turner Field. This will be the first time Hampton, who has a 6.90 road ERA, has faced the Braves this season.






Olympic Stadium | 1:35 PM ET

Scouting Report:
Colon will be making his first career appearance against San Diego while Lawrence will be making just his second appearance ever against Montreal. Lawrence made one start against the Expos last year and took a hard-luck loss, surrendering four unearned runs on five hits in five innings in an eventual 4-0 defeat. Lawrence has pitched well since the start of July, going 4-2 in eight starts with an ERA under 3.00. Colon will be looking for his second win of the month after going 1-1 with a no-decision and a 3.86 ERA through his first three starts of August. He fell to 5-2 as an Expo last Wednesday in a 5-2 loss to the Dodgers in which he allowed three runs -- two earned -- on 10 hits in seven innings.

Scouting Report:
Byrd's last start was a nine-inning no-decision. He allowed eight hits and two runs, one earned, against the Yankees. During the month of July, he went 4-2 with a 2.22 ERA. Byrd has pitched eight innings or more in six of his last seven starts. For the season, he has pitched five innings or more in 23 of his 25 starts. In his first full season as a Major Leaguer, Walker hasn't been consistent. He's been shuttled between the bullpen and the starting rotation, providing mixed results. As a starter, Walker is 4-3 with a 5.78 ERA -- as a reliever, he's gone 1-0 with a 2.19 mark. He has pitched five innings or more in each of his last four starts, though, posting a 2-1 record over that span.

Scouting Report:
Hudson will try to continue his recent hot streak in Cleveland. He is 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA in his three August starts and 6-3 with a 2.45 ERA in his last 15 outings. Hudson went seven innings in his last start for a win against Toronto, giving up only one earned run. Baez is 1-1 in his last two starts. He has given up 15 hits and six runs in 12 innings, but has struck out 10 in that span.

Scouting Report:
The Orioles have four more games against the Devil Rays and this series has not been a source of pleasure for Baltimore. The Orioles are 7-8 against the league's worst team and would like to avoid the painful possibility of losing the season series. Driskill has proven capable of adjusting to Major League hitters after he struggled about a month ago. Wilson seems to give the Orioles trouble. Two of his five wins have been against Baltimore.

Scouting Report:
Lima gets his second start against the Mariners this season in the series opener. He opposed right-hander Freddy Garcia on July 29 at SAFECO Field and pitched well, allowing just five hits and two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. But one of the hits was a two-run home run by Edgar Martinez and the Mariners eventually won the game. Lima, a one-time 20-game winner, is better than his 7.21 ERA would suggest. Moyer, a left-hander, is coming off one of his worst outings of the season: a 10-run debacle against the Red Sox last Wednesday night.

Scouting Report:
Radke is making his fourth start since coming off the DL with a groin injury Aug. 3. In his last start, Aug. 14 against Baltimore, Radke pitched six innings and allowed three runs on six hits in a no-decision. He has yet to get a victory since being activated. The White Sox have been winners in all four of Glover's recent starts. Glover has taken two of those decisions. In his previous start, Aug. 13 at Texas, he went eight innings and allowed three runs on five hits. Against the Twins at Chicago on July 22, Glover pitched 2 2/3 innings of perfect relief.






Busch Stadium | 8:10 PM ET

Scouting Report:
Wells had one of his worst outings of the season last week against the Cardinals when he allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits and thee walks in six innings. He has only one win in his past six starts. In seven games since coming off the DL, Benes is 2-1 with a 2.23 ERA and hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in any start. Part of his turnaround is credited to working with teammate Chuck Finley on a on a split-finger fastball.
