Picked up 2 more wins in the BIG 12 yesterday with Texas in 1H and Texas for the game to bring my BIG 12 TOTAL on the Year to 5-0 at a 1st week conservative +13 units! As I have indicated before, for whatever its worth.....I put much more effort into the BIG 10 and BIG 12 conferences in CFB for many reasons. I have several reliable sources of information in those conferences, I watch and attend as many games in those conferences as possible, and have had more success within those conferences then any other. Just food for thought, do with it whatever you would like as I am here with the same goal as everyone else......share info, thoughts, and OPINIONS in a effort to win some extra cash from the book while watching the great game of football! God knows, I take into account the information as well as the thoughts and opinions of several on this site! ANYWAY, lets get on with it!

East Carolina @ Cinncy

I am on this fence with this one with so many factors to take in consideration:

-East Caro has a new coach with a new system.
-East Caro is coming off a season where they struggled with an experienced team and are now faced with a CONFERENCE opener on the road with a lot of inexperience!
-East Caro lost their pre-season RB Art Brown to a knee injury in practice, he accounted for 1029 yards and 14 TD's last year.
-Therefore East Caro will be operation not only in a new system, under a whole new coaching staff but will also have a new RB and a new QB who only played sparingly last year throwing for 250 yards and 2 ints. He is very mobile though and reports suggest a lot of option plays.
-East Caro lost their TOP 2 WR targets but do have 4 players with experience back.
-East Caro returns ONLY 5 Players on a DEFENSE that ranked 106th in the nation giving up an average of 445.7 total yards per game.....but new head coach is a defensive coordinator who brought in to change all that.....can he do it by the first game with the players he had to work with?????
-East Caro HAS won 12 of 15 vs Cinncy and has a very good 5-2 record vs the Bearcats in Cinncy.

-Cinncy wrapped up co-champs honors in Conf. USA last year.
-Cinncy won in East Caro last year 42-26 but only outgained East Caro by 20 yards while scoring 2 TD's on interceptions returned to Paydirt.
-Cinncy gained 400 yds per game in total offense last year ranking 33rd in the nation.
-Cinncy ranked 21st in the country in Defense yielding 318.1 total yards per game.....BUT they only return 5 starters from that unit.
-Cinncy does return 2nd team All-Conf QB Gino Guidugli who threw for 3,543 yards and 22 TD's.....BUT threw a whooping 21 INT's.
-Cinncy has their QB back but lost their TOP 4 receivers and their workhourse tailback Demarco McClesky and his 1361 yards, 15 TD's.
-Cinncy gets 3 of their 5 starting linemen back.

What to do, what to do? In my opinion, Cinncy still has more talent then ECU and will have the luxury of playing at home in a conference game with what I expect to be a energized crowd on National TV (ESPN) on Labor Day to motivate them even more. They have a proven coach who seems to always have his team prepared and will be opposed by a new coach who has never been a head coach after coming in from being Florida's Defensive Coord. last year.

PASS! Although I was temped to put 1 unit on Cinncy to make the game interesting and have someone to root for as I will watch the game on this rainy Labor Day in Dallas.

TCU @ Tulane

-TCU comes in ranked #25 nationally after finishing last year with a 10-2 record, 6-2 in conf winning the conf title and beating Colo St. in the Libery Bowl...finishing #23 in the nation.
-TCU is 7-3 in the 10 match ups against Tulane including last years 17-10 victory at home.
-TCU had a very strong running game last year that should only be better this year with 2 stud RB's returning with a very strong experienced offensive line
-RB Lonta Hobbs gained 1029 yds and 12 TD's in only 8 games last year and Ricky Madison is back after racking up 746 yds and 3 TD's before getting hurt.
-The Horned Frogs and their fans are very excited to get Tye Gunn back running the offense from the QB spot. He lead TCU to a 4-0 record, 632 yds passing adn 6 TD's before blowing out his knee.
-TCU lost TOP 2 receivers but still have several with experience.

HERE is THE BIG NEWS****TCU defense was ranked #1 vs the run last year yielding only 64.8 ypg and they RETURN 4 FROM THAT DEF LINE!

-Tulane gets to open up the conf at home in the DOME in front of what should be a very energetic and emotional crowd as they almost voted to extinguish the football team.
-They opened as a 6 point underdog at home to a TCU team they only lost by 7 to last year in Texas.
-Though TCU's Def. against the run will be dominating again this year they have several questions in the secondary, not good vs a Tulane team led by QB JP Losman and 9 other returning starters on an offense that put up 27.8 ppg behind his 2368 yds and 19 TD's
-Tulane also returns all their WR's that helped put up 203.5 ypg through the air.....again scary for a questionable TCU secondary.
-Tulane's biggest struggles came against the strength of TCU though----the run, where they gave up over 180 ypg last year and only return 3 Total Starters on D.....none from the Def line.

A lot to decipher.....TCU's great Run D but questionable secondary to face a Tulane offense that returns 10 starters (all their WR's, stud play maker at RB in Moore, and a slinger in Losman at QB).......VS. A Tulane D that only returns 3 players from a team that overachieved against the pass last year to keep them in games and stunk it up against the run with no one back from that D line to face a powerful running attack of two very talented running backs running behind a very tough off. line and a QB ready to take off where he left off after last years injury.

Personally, this will be a gut feeling play: I think TCU has really started to show signs in the last 3-4 years of becoming a team that could be an every year contender in the TOP 25. They have a running attach that will control the temp of this game limiting Tulane's time of possession. Their D Line will put pressure on Losman, and though he might make some great plays, I have to side with the team that has more balanced talent on both sides of the ball. The line has dropped which I think is a result of the press that Losman and Moore are getting along with the story behind the school almost losing their team. TCU wins this by more then one TD in the National Spotlight!!!!

TCU -5 (olympic and my local) 2 units

A great write-up, thank you for your time, effort, and dedication to what this site stands for. I'm going to follow your posts and learn from you as I have lots of others that have basically moved on. Best of luck this season- and I also appreciate the way you thoroughly document your results. :)
