We actually picked the Indians for last place in the AL Central. The Tigers are only 2 games behind the Tribe now, and they were bound to improve after that nightmarish 3-25 start. The Indians are equally pathetic (11-25, -$1195) so if we catch a nice underdog price, we?ll look for the visiting Tigers to make a move towards getting out of the cellar. PREFERRED: Tigers at +125 or better.



Toronto at Chicago W. Sox (3) 19th, 20th, 21st



The Blue Jays have eked out a small profit on the road so far (+$295) and after their important weekend showdown with the Twins, the White Sox could come in flat. Chicago has struggled vs. righthanders (-$830 with only 3.8 runs per game) and will have a tough time vs. Corey Lidle (4-0, +$605 on the road), who seems likely to take a turn here at Comiskey. PREFERRED: Lidle.

ory Lidle, Toronto Blue Jays

Lidle is another fine pitcher hidden from view north of the 49th parallel. He had an impressive season for the A's in 2001, going 13-6 in 30 starts with a 3.59 ERA. Unfortunately for Lidle supporters, Oakland only came up with a 16-14 record in those games, yielding a measly $20 as a result.

In 2002, Lidle was just 8-10 with a 3.89 ERA, but Oakland managed a 17-13 record with Lidle on the hill, earning 4.43 units. Then Lidle was shipped off to the Jays for a pair of minor league prospects.

Lidle's already matching last year's profits by leading the Jays to a 6-3 record, earning 4.38 units along the way. His ERA has blown up to 5.09 in hitter-friendly SkyDome, but Toronto's potent young bats are paving the way to the bank.
