Money line dog vs taking the points....

I have a friend who takes the money line in any game where he likes a dog of 6 points or less. He has done quite well over the past three years doing this.

Do any of you do this?

I have never checked to see if this pans out over all, and am too lazy to look it up, but if any of you have any input, it would be great!
