I am still having problems understanding this moneyline/puckline.

For example (I use Olympic)
Detroit is -.5 (-1.20) on the puckline
and (-1.65) on the moneyline.

This is where I get confused. If I bet the money line Detroit has to win, right. So why would I lay 1.65 when I can just take them on the Puckline for -1.20. Can someone shed some light on my little problem

Thanks

Because if you take Detroit on the ml @ (-1.65) and the game ends in a tie you get a push and your money back.... But if you took them at -0.5 (-1.20) and the game ends in a tie you would lose the bet.... the -0.5 is the spread... meaning they have to win by half a goal... on the other hand if you Took Vancouver +0.5 (+1.00) and the game ended in a tie you would win the bet as they would have covered the half a goal spread....

Hope this helps..
