Did you see the end of the Pepperdine game?? cost me 675 bucks on a miracle 3 pointer with about 4 seconds left. Pepperdine was down by 3, guy gets fouled, hits the first free throw and misses the next on purpose....it gets batted out to a Pepperdine player beyond the 3 line and he launches a shot and hits it to win....I wanted to puke

it was the last in a 4 teamer with 3 of your ML winners....a true bad beat for the ages....

Yes, it's a terrible way to lose. I had an incredible night up until that finish. Good thing I only had one unit on the game.
Sorry for your parlay loss. Damn.
That's twice this year that the "fouling up three" strategy has backfired. Same thing happened in a Monmouth game early in the season.
I still like the decision to foul.
I'll go to my grave saying you always foul up three with less than 10 seconds left. But, after these two instances, I have softened my stance a little. UK also beat Miss State like 7 or 8 years ago in the SEC title game after Miss State fouled up three. (But the ref missed a violation on UK on the free throw, so I thought it was a fluke)
Saw it happen last year (on film) in a high school game, too. But I still foul, but no longer get furious at coaches who don't. Not an NBA fan, but Pop's reasoning that "It's a European thing to do" is so stupid to me. Just say "I don't believe in it."
Anyway, out the door now to go to the Harvard-Yale game in New Haven.
BTW, I asked the Yale coach (Jones) once if he fouls in that situation. He tells me "yes."
The next game he doesn't foul up three, and the opponent rims out the tying 3-ball. I see Jones after the game and I say "Coach, I thought you believed in fouling?" He says to me "I didn't have the heart to do it."
