Last week, I took one on the chin as NC State turned the ball over and over again falling at home to Ohio State, 22-14. Still up for the year, though, and I'm jumping on an early one this week.

Season Stats:
College Football 1 - 1 .500 +2.9 units

Game: Miami (FL) at Houston
Time: Thursday, 6:30 pm CDT
Pick: Miami -29 (3 units)

Miami Coach Larry Coker labeled the Hurricanes' 48-0 blowout of Louisiana Tech a win the #4 team in the country was supposed to put together the way UM (2-0) was supposed to do it -- convincingly.

Up next is Houston (1-2), an opponent with the same talent level as the Bulldogs, but with a worse record, and Coker realizes his team is expected to win convincingly again Thursday night.

The game has been moved from the University of Houston campus to Reliant Stadium. It is the Hurricanes' first road trip of the season. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.

Last week, Deven Hester set a school record with 2 punt returns for touchdowns. The Miami defense held Louisiana Tech to 183 yards on offense and forced 7 fumbles (recovering 3) and 10 punts while making 6 sacks.

Miami is ranked #2 out of the 117 Division I-A teams in total defense. They are scary good.

The Canes run it up on the national stage.

Damn! The big favorite didn't quite get it done. :cursin:

Tyrone Moss and the defense came to play, but Brock Berlin and the offensive line were very disappointing.

Berlin was 13-23 for just 99 yards and got sacked 7 times.

It looked good early as the Hurricanes sprinted out to a 21-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter. However, UM didn't score again on offense until just 3-1/2 minutes remained in the game.

The loss drops Monkey into the red for the season.

Season Stats: 1 - 2 .333 (-0.4 unit)
