Mother Who Abandoned Son on Beltway Due In Court
Falls Church, Va. (AP) - The Newport News woman who allegedly abandoned her four-year-old son on the shoulder of the Capital Beltway late Tuesday is expected to appear in court Thursday.
Virginia State police say 22-year-old Channoah Green left the boy along the busy highway near the Lee Highway overpass in Falls Church after she became upset with him. They say the boy tried to get back in the car and she struck him with her vehicle. Police say the boy told them his mother was angry because he wasn't sitting down in the car like he was supposed to.
Green was arrested later near Richmond following a car accident. She's been charged with felony child neglect and hit and run.
The child is said to be doing fine and was placed with Fairfax County Child Protective Services.
