Super Chevy Show returning to LVMS after lengthy hiatus

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
Chevrolet fans can rejoice this weekend, when the Super Chevy Show returns to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first time in seven years.

The two-day event is celebrating its 30th anniversary under new ownership consisting of six tracks that host NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events.

Super Chevy includes drag racing, a car show, swap meet, used-car corral and autocross.

Special attractions will include Ed "Outlaw" Jones doing 120 mph wheelstands in his replica stagecoach powered by a 2,000-horsepower supercharged Chevy. Making its first appearance at Las Vegas will be Les Shockley's Super Shockwave 1957 Chevy pickup with two jet engines loaded in the bed that produce 25,000 horsepower.

This marks the first of 10 events for Super Chevy, founded by Roger Gustin. Speedway Motorsports Inc. owns LVMS, and the speedway was unable to be part of the ownership group because SMI stock is publicly traded.

Racing runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Visit LVMS.com or call 644-4444 for more information. ...
