Mountaineers return to action with Sun Belt game at Little Rock
Appalachian State completes its swing through Arkansas tonight with a road game against Little Rock at 9 p.m. on ESPN3.
The Mountaineers (6-15, 1-9) lost 79-78 at Sun Belt co-leader Arkansas State on Saturday night. Little Rock (12-11, 3-7) has dropped four straight games, and it is 1-6 since winning 76-68 in Boone on Jan. 7.
Marcus Johnson, a 5-foot-11 cousin of App State freshman Isaac Johnson, scored 20 points for the Trojans in the first meeting. The Mountaineers took a 63-62 lead with 4:16 left that night, but Little Rock?s Lis Shoshi scored the next six points and the Trojans hit two contested 3-pointers in the final 1:41.
App State post starters Griffin Kinney and Tyrell Johnson combined for 28 points in the first game.
Marcus Johnson (14.5 points), the 6-11 Shoshi (10.0 points) and 6-6 Jalen Jackson (10.0 points) are Little Rock's top scorers.
Shoshi returned to action Saturday after missing five straight games with a turf toe injury.
