For pure escapism, I liked it a lot.:0corn :0corn
Kingsman is a British exclusive spy branch who is facing a world threat (Billionaire Samuel Jackson) while in the process of replacing a fallen comrade.
Among the recruits is a young man ( actor Taren Egerton) from lower society, who's father was a Kingsman, slain during a foreign assignment, while he was very young.
As the recruits are tested and weeded out through different life or death scenarios; Samuel Jackson after secretly consulting world leaders, announces his "gift" to the world : free internet and phone service.
Jackson has a female companion that likes to slice and dice people with her
artificial legs.
Kingsman (Michael Caine is chairman) gets involved and discovers the "gift" is bad news for the
planet...the phone card causes the human brain to instantly embrace mega
murderous violence with no remorse.
My favorite scene of the movie is when a Baptist Church? in Kentucky is used as a test for the device.
The entire congregation, plus the investigating Kingsman agent (Colin Firth) go murderously psycho for a very long sequence set to music by Lynard Skynard. (Free bird)
Overall, lots of action, subtle homages to past spy movies, lots of cool spy weaponry including a bullet-proof umbrella.
I sat back with the wife, had some good chuckles, left the theater with the feeling it was a "fun" entertaining movie.
