SHORT VERSION
Ocean explorers have discovered a DEEP DEEP ocean area protected by a thermocline (super cold current separating the undersea environments)
They penetrate and explore the area, and are attacked by a giant squid and 75 foot extinct bad ass shark.
Jason is called in to rescue the disabled submersible.
When they leave the area, they penetrate the barrier allowing the bad- ass shark into "our world".
All hell breaks loose....
Not quite Jaws....but they get a bigger boat.....

I loved the original with Steve McQueen-Dustin Hoffman...if you have not seen it....where have you been?
This version follows the general storyline....the actors are The guy who does Freddie Mercury, and some guy from TV's son of anarchy....quite a drop down in star power.
Takes place in French Guyana, 1930's, infamous prison.
Devil's Island is across the bay.
Papillion is a safe cracker framed for murder, Daga is a bond counterfeiter. They partner up.
The story is survival and escape in a totally unforgiving environment of harsh jungle, ocean and a no nonsense penal code that includes the use of the guillotine.
Its a brutal story, but based on fact.
Not for the snowflake crowd....
I gave it 3 stars...outta 5....the original was a 5+
