Hey guys, I know some of you are from the vegas area, and I am going to be moving out there on Nov. 1st. I know nothing about the area except the strip. I am looking at a place around the airport. It is on Temarus St off of Tropicana. I'm hoping its not in the ghetto because its a pretty nice place from the pics but then again they all look nice in pics. I'm not looking to spend more than $600/month at first so if anyone can help with any nicer places than this please let me know or at least just tell me where not to move. I am a waiter and will be looking for a waitering job on the strip, hopefully the ESPN Zone. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, and hopefully when I get out there I can meet you guys.

Kansas City area for who knows how long....

you could find better

that area is getting getto. story here. Right on Tropicana isn't bad, but it is right by UNLV and rents are higher than other places.

My advice is to rent month-by month at one of those apt places few miles south of strip right on LV Blvd. Good area and close to work. bit cheaper. once you get the lay of the land, you can then move to more permanent spot.

getting work isn't easy for new residents. Employers in LV are leery of hiring someone who hasn't been there several months 'cause of the turnover. But it's not impossible...

I've lived there for months on end last few years, but just done sportsbetting. I've stayed near downtown among the highest crime areas in town and haven't had any trouble, but I'm probably just lucky.....I'll move back for a several months this fall, or winter depending on if there is any NHL season...

the forum here is very helpful

good luck on what you do!
