BACK AND GOOD TO BE HERE

lot of catching up to do thanks for the well wishes,.... Good DR

Mize we are down on Holt Rd off of Georgesville in Columbus OH

looks like all is well,... the fire sale in cincy is over, Seabiscuit was very entertaining for me but many may find it a little slow or not flashy enough.

First stop here for me was the NFL contest & was greeted with mixed emotions :

Infinity did a great job last year so having them as a sponser again is GREAT for the rest of you but bad for me, but that is OK. I was in 2 other contests last year and placed 2nd in both so will be in those plugging away again again. I am looking forward to seeing how my system does this year will be my 5th year of using the base qualifiers with the refinements of the last 3 years helping each year I will more than likely leave it alone this year & see what happens.

Been busy burning powder at the range the last two weeks and the results have been impressive with accuracy improving each visit. One handload put 3 shots in a .314 group @ 100 yards.

Thats 3 shots under a dime guys ;)

Why don't you leave the deer alone and shoot at some cans or something.

Mercury most of the fine & over-taxed residents of Ohio hunt deer with Chevys, Fords, Hondas (built in Marysville of course) Toyotas and other various assorted motor vehicles.

I never said I hunted deer, I used to but that was over 16 years ago, now I mainly target shoot and control the local over population of Ground Hogs.

Is deer hunting wrong? no I think not especially when one consumes the meat or donates it to a local homeless shelter.

Also you proved that you failed to read my post. I made no mention of hunting deer, simply commenting on my rifles capability and the skill I have developed over the years shooting it. Eric added that one must find the deer to shoot it, and how TRUE Eric. They are very elusive in their natural habitat. I know I hunted for 7 years before I got my first one. That was due in part to the population in Ohio at that time, now they are thicker than Quail or Pheasants, so the heavy hunting pressure they endure has not caused any shortfall in their population. Call any body shop or insurance company in November during the rut and you will find out what they think of them and how many there are on the roads.

Some states have herd control hunters who take deer by selectivity of size, age and sex but not many know about that, and most of them use high velocity rifles for quick and humane results at ranges under 100 yards.

Good hunting practices are apart of a lot of our hertiage and background, as late as the 1930's in the depth of the Depression some families main source of food for the table was wild game.

Finally why don't I hunt deer anymore ?

There are so many hunters in the woods and fields for deer season these days I simply don't feel safe. I would like to see Ohio go to a hunter rotation system based on last name and lengthen the season or something.

One additional fact, we use shotguns in Ohio for deer hunting not high powered rifles.

Please respect our right to bear and enjoy firearms. I read a few years back how a local man beat his wife with his golf club. A 2 iron to the brain may be as lethal as the bullet from a gun, but no one is trying to outlaw golf clubs nor should they the maturity and mentality of the user is the key factor not the object , be it a rifle, pistol, golf club, metal baseball bat or whatever.

Thanks for allowing me to express my opinion. However if this needs to be deleted then so be it.

Respectfully
Geno

you got that right G been deer hunting in the tri states penn, wv, ohio it can be like war season and tuff to wear camo because you snap a twing if your walking and might hear shots go off. i still hunt back home prefer staying in the tree stand. also enjoy bow season more by choice.

hell you will take a groung hog in half , make sure you don't take out Phil incase he wonders into the wrong state after a night out on the town. the people of pa would be mighty mad at you:D damn rodent:thefinger always gives the bad news on winter:confused:
