Mozilla Firefox--Popup Problems

After downloading the latest update for Firefox last week, I am getting popups left and right (most of them are for casinos and poker sites). They pop up in new windows with the Internet Explorer symbol in the left corner of the window. I do not use IE but I did verify that the IE popup blocker is activated. I cleared the temp files folder and cleared any cookies and the address history. I also verified that the popup blocker is activated on my Firefox settings. I then ran CCleaner and Ad-Aware (nothing critical found). After all of that, the popups keep coming.

Is anyone else having popup problems with Firefox recently? Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

Thanks for your help,
M

i recently bought noadware3 from noadware, i believe it was $20 or 30 bucks, you can install it on as moany computers as you own too. It removes all spyware and stuff that messes with your registry and those cookies. Its worth it imo.

Some people figured out that you could launch popups from Flash, getting around the Firefox default settings.

This is how yah can get around it:

Type about:config into the Firefox location bar.
Right-click on the page and select New and then Integer.
Name it privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins
Set the value to 2.

The possible values are:

0: Allow all popups from plugins.
1: Allow popups, but limit them to dom.popup_maximum.
2: Block popups from plugins.
3: Block popups from plugins, even on whitelisted sites.
