Pitt vs Den
The old saying is to win in the playoffs run the ball stop the run and no turnovers. Oh yeah and get homefield.
I dont feel that denver will be able to establish a running game against Pitt's Defense. Both Pitt and NE play a 3-4 defense with a strong line(Hampton and Oelhoffen) and good linebackers. I would rate both teams DB's as average except for Polomalu. He is all over the field. He is in on every play. Anderson averaged 3.6 a carry on NE. Bell 3.2. With Polomalu up in the box Denver shouldnt be able to do any better than that on the ground. NE tends to keep its safeties back and their SS, Hawkins He is a converted corner and the other saftey Wilson played corner at Illinios.
Okay can Pittsburg run on Denver? Denver has some of the Fastest LB's in the league and are solid up front. (Pryce and warren). They also have a beast SS Lynch and he'll be up in the box too.
My opinion is that Parker will have a tough time today, but the Bus may get a little more up the gut.
I will give running game to the steelers B/C they have slighty better runningbacks anderson and Bettis are bruisers I give a slight nod to the Bus.
Parker and Bell are speed guys. I'll take Willie. Both have solid O lineman (faneca for Pitt) and Denver is good at diving into opponents legs
The defenses look pretty equal at most positions except corner where Denver has Champ Bailey.
Which brings us to the passing game. Both teams will look to bring pressure
Steelers had 47 sacks and gave up 32.
Broncos had 28 sacks gave up 23.
Denver passed the ball 465 times this year and opponents passed 613.
Steelers passed 379 times and opponents passed 549 times.
Based on these numbers Denvers oline protects better and Pittsburgs D gets more pressure.
Maybe a slight edge for Pitt using this analysis
Both teams have a posession guy Smith-Ward
and speed Lelie -Randal el . Ward stands out from the group but bailey could neutrALIZE HIM.
I think he'll get his catches though and so will Smith. H. Miller should be a factor today.
Quarterbacks-
Big Ben and Jake the snake. Ben is bigger with Better arm. both are mobile
But what really counts is..... are you efficient.. will you make mistakes. In a game that looks this even These Q's will decide the fate of their teams
This season Int % Jake 1.5 Ben 3.4
this season fumbles Jake 4 none lost
Ben 2 none lost
Jake has had a great season. but in the past he has thrown 20 interceptions 5 times in his career
Career wise Ben is much more accurate also.
This game looks close.
Both coaches are great
Denver has homefield.
Pittsburg gets 3 points
Today I'm taking Pittsburg +3 a late FG should decide this one. Steelers have played great thus far in the playoffs and Denver really seemed to struggle against NE. and quite honestly I feel they were lucky to escape with a victory last week. A Bullshit pass interference call and a bad decision by Brady. Couple of fumbles on special teams. They caught a lot of breaks and I dont see Pittsburg turning the ball over today.
Going with my gut= Pittsburg +3 (free points are good)
