I don't usually post my plays, but thought I would share this one with ya, I am taking Northwestern over Ill for 10 units. This game will not be close. Illinois is horrible this year, and NW has played much better all year, granted they were taking to the woodshed last week by Mich.

Ill is plain awful, they have only beaten 1-aa Ill St, and in thier 10 losses they are losing by an avg of 20.5 points.  and they haven't scored more than 2 td's in their last 6 games.

NW's wins haven't been against powerhouses, with wins against Duke, Kansas, Indiana, and Penn state, but they did also beat Wisconsin, plus 3 of those wins were on the road.

My numbers have NW winning by 11, so I will be giving the 3.5.

GL :D

cant say i disagree. i wont be laying the road chalk, especially in that rivalry, but i do think you are correct. i believe northwestern needs a win for bowl eligibility as well. not sure if theyd get invited, but they do need this win. im amazed at how the illinois program has gone in the sh1tter in the span of just 2 years.

Wouldn?t even call this game a rivalry game as Illinois thinks pretty highly of itself and gets up more for the Michigan and Ohio State games while Northwestern stills has a thing for Iowa from the Barnett years. This game wasn?t even carried on TV a few years back in the Chicago area. NW clearly the better team and Illinois has just quit on Turner. Like the ?cats myself.

personally I am staying away. But I have a few buddies on the Illini team, and follow big 10 very close. IMO Illinois still has the better athletes, and this is their "most winnable" game of the year. Also, it is senior day, so there is motivation on the Illini side. Plus, this game has recruiting implications. I may play Illini small, but just wanted to offer an alternative perspective.

I don't think I could ever justify a GOY on the Cats, but good luck nonetheless. Illinois is definitely dog shit.

Johnny respect your opinion, always welcome opposing views, but I think after losing to Indiana, the Illini are just ready to get the season over with. Also I think Indiana was a more winable game than this one, yes they were on the road but if you think Illiniois has better athletes than NU, surely you must think they have better athletes than Indiana.

Also I don't think Memorial stadium will be packed with fans, so it's not like NU is going into a hostile environment.

C2, agree with you that Illini already lost their most winnable game in Indiana. I was at the Purdue/Illinois game and I thought then that the Illini were just going through the motions. I will be playing Northwestern along with you. The Wildcats have alot more to play for . Good Luck

that nw ground game should do big business on the illini run "d"......but,it is northwestern and they do like to put it on the carpet........that`s why i can`t go heavy on this one.....

I agree - I think this is a very strong play, it reminds me a lot of last weeks Colorado at Iowa St play that blew the line out of the water. Anytime I can get a relatively low line in a matchup where one team is fighting for a postseason game and the other appears to have mailed in the season - I'll take it. Illinois and Iowa St are very similiar in my opinion, didn't have huge expectations but no one expected things to be nearly this bad either.

NW does have a quality win vs Wisconsin, which gives them a bit more credibility in my mind (even though it was at home and this is a road game), but as Gardenweasel pointed out there tendency to put the ball on the carpet will limit this play to 2 units for me.

GL to all this weekend.

there was an illini game on t.v. a few weekends ago and the stadium was empty. NW i playing for bowl eligablility i believe and if they get a couple early scores all of the senoir day stuff wont make a differense and the illini will get blown out by around 20.

Gl with the play

Also there will be a decent amount of NW fans at the game im sure

Hawkeye,

I agree with you. You might want to talk some sense into your boy there saying GOY!! Wisky looked unbelievable last week and Iowa has not beaten anyone on the road I don't think.

In addition to NW I am playing TCU tonight, even though it is against the majority of the board, I just have a hunch, a small play for me, but I think the frogs get it done tonight.

Well going against the board hurt me with TCU, but in addition to NW here are my other plays:

Mich St -5 have them winning by 11, penn st horrible on the road
.
NC St -1, Rivers last home game he goes out a winner.

Kansas -11, while I think this is a lot of points for a Kansas team to cover, like Illinois Iowa St has thrown in the towel. Plus Kansas needs this game to be bowl eligible.
