This is my very first post at this forum ever but I have used this site for a long time to get inputs on picks. I was hoping that Memphis would end up playing St. Joe's in the NIT and my dream came true. Both of these teams have been playing very good b-ball as of late and both teams have had their own struggles throughout the regular season. IMO Memphis is a far more superior team in this matchup. At evey position they matchup with better all around athletes than St. Joe's. Also as a conference, Conf. USA was a heck of a lot stonger competition than the A-10 this year(which I know is not a big factor but still means something)! I think Memphis is on a mission after the heartbreaking loss in the Conf. USA championship and all the hype they got in the begining of the season has been showing up in their plat as of late. Also, I think this St. Joe's team has really overachieved as of late(Kinda like Kentucky did in the NCAA tourney). I personally thought they would loose to Holy Cross at home in this tournament. In conclusion, Memphis is my GOY.

Memphis -2 1/2 ( Very Big Play! )

Good Luck 2 everybody. I'll post plays for the rest of the NCAA tourney and NBA playoffs. Also MLB (my favorite!)

best of luck. these two teams have certainly looked the best of any of remaining NIT teams. my only hesitation is that st.joes is far more disciplined than memphis and will also have the proximal advantage. on paper, memphis is the play. but tough to go against st.joes right now. youre right, theyve overachieved to this point. but their defense has been damn solid.

Thanks 4 the imput gman. I have followed thruoghout the year. You've been awsome! Especially in your Horizon and MAC plays. Ur right, St. Joe's has been playing exceptionally good d-fence and they r very well coached. I think St. Joe's will be forced to play zone against Memphis b/c of the athleic ability of this Memphis team and I think that they will knock down the big shot they need to. They r just playing w/ so much confidence right now, especially Darius Washington. Also think Memphis will step up they're defense this game and take Carroll out of the game. If they contest Carroll's shots and break down the St. Joe's defense(which they have the athletes to it), I think they should beat this team by 10.
Good Luck
I loved Mich St. in that Kenty game. Also think that Mich. St. can beat Noth Carolina. I think they match up well

Thanks for the article. I was watching that game and I felt so bad for the kid when he missed those free throws. I like Calipari as a coach and think this team is ready to win this years NIT. Plus, hlf of there team has plated in previous NIT's. Yeah, St. Joe's made played well in the NCAA tourney last year but West and Nelson never could even come out of the game b/c of the need of their presence on the court. Only Carroll really has big game experiece.
Good luck

You know Memphis is without Jeremy Hunt, right?

I'm thinking about taking St. Joes +2 -105 1h. Also I already took a prop betcris has, P.CARROLL(ST.JOE) PTS+AST+REB -? -125 over R.CARNEY(MEM)PTS+AST+REB.

Null, I know Hunt is out. Memphis still has way to much offensive fire power and I think is playing with more desire than St. Joes. The prop bet might be ok considering Carroll must have a great game for St. Joes to have a chance to keep this one close IMO

Ok just making sure. I'm not sure I'll bet a side on the game but I do like that prop. When you add up each players averages and the half point it looks like a tossup, but when you consider St. Joe's D (limiting Carney's points) and how much they rely on Carroll for offense, I think it's a good bet. Teams talk about shutting him down but it hasn't been happening. Memphis does look good but St. Joes has been playing well lately so I'm not sure I can go against them. Anyway didn't want to crap on your thread, just giving another perspective.

No one plays with more desire than St. Joes. They are extremely poised, disciplined, and hard nosed. This line looks way too low, and really reeks of a trap as everyone is laying this short number. I would tread very lightly.

I'd take Memphis any day of the week in this matchup. Especially with a line like that. I dont believe in trap crap. Either a team shows up or they don't.
MEMPHIS -2 - LOVE IT...much more explosive team that can hang with anyone in the nation IMO.

agreed...hard to go against a cut throat defense like the one St. Joes has...plus, if it comes down to it, St Joes 3pt shooting along with their defense could raise hell for the Tigers...either way, ill be rooting for ya, gl

first off, st joes will have a ton of fans at this game which will help. they had about 6000 last year for the gonzaga game at the garden, they travel extremely well to the garden. second, st joes has played awesome defense lately, giving up about low 50's a game in the nit. i don't think they have overachieved, they just took a while to gel trying to play without barley, nelson, west not here anymore. i think the spread is right on and i find it odd that everyone is on memphis. i agree i am a little biased since im an alum of the hawks but i will bet against them if necessary like the buffalo game. im here to win not just root for my team. think this game is a definite no play. if st joes can continue their defense and hit 3's they'll win by 5-7. if they are cold from 3 pt range they'll lose, that simple. im seeing something in the 64-62 st joes range tonight but i could be off. just see so many people on memphis tonight and it seems like if a couple people like a side then everyone jumps on it, im just saying tread lightly, there are better games.

I don't think St Joe's has overachieved, I think they have a very high IQ as a team & are coached by one of the best. Martelli made a great move early in the yr when he bagged the press and went to a slow tempo 1/2 court game . How many coaches adjust to their talent? Not enough. I have watched this STJ team get out rebounded and so called better athletes have their way and then you look at the scoreboard and you say to yourself, how did they win. They win because they are one of the best at fundamentals. This game is not that easy.

The total in this game is very interesting. 125 / So Memphis gets 80 and joes get 45 ? ALL the money will be on the over and what does this total tell us about this game ? & what does the line maker think about this game ? I don't know and I wish I did.

Bryanz it almost looks like Vegas is letting their total ride along with their ticket count on memphis...meaning, they know if St Joes wins or covers, its going to be low scoring, so they are taking that risk

Joes just has to be in it for this one to stay under . both favorites will not cover and both games will not go over. With the short card I think the dogs and the unders will pay 2 of 4 @ worst.
