I'm having a small party for the super bowl at my house. I've invited the guys over that I usually watch football with on Sundays. However, one of them might bring his wife and 3 yr old daughter. I have a good relationship with him and his family but typically when we watch football it's just the guys so we can drink and cuss without worrying about offending anyone.

How do I tell this guy not to bring his wife and kid without giving the impression that they aren't welcome in my home? They are always welcome but to watch footbal with the guys? C'mon. I wished he would just figure this out on his own.

Should I be rude and tell the guy the wife and kid aren't' welcome that day and risk pissing off his wife? Or should I just bite my lip and let him bring the family with?

Just tell the guy that sometimes the guys like to get rowdy and the laguage could get rough during the game and it wouldn't be the best atmosphere for the kid. If he is a guy he should understand.

There is nothing wrong with saying it an "adults only" party or "Guys only"....

That's what we do for our Super Bowl party every year (Adults only)... too much drinking, craziness, etc for small children to be around...

Why in the world would he want to bring his wife and kid if there are not going to be any other wives or kids there...He should have enough common sense to figure that out on his own without you having to tell him...

AGREED! What an idiot?

i got this guy living with me who was down on his luck so i let him move in because i was going thru some bad stuff of my own and was vunerable. Well those times are over and it has just sunk in that i want this guy out. He has a kid who comes over on weekends and after a few times i was tired of watching people sneak around in my house just to smoke a joint. I finally told him this is an adult house and im uncomfortable with his kid around and now all the sudden people are sneaking in rooms to smoke weed because of his kid. Use the weed excuse it worked for me. By the way i told him to hit the road and its four months now. If you have any advice for me before i just shoot him let me know.

good luck Sponge...

no expert in the situation..but if I were you I would seek out the legal eviction process ASAP..my understanding is that roomers and or invited people to share a dwelling have certain legal rights..had a similiar situation but it didn't reach the point of legal notice to evict. The drunk finally got the hell out of my house.

a web search for eviction laws may turn up something...gl

old its really not bad. He is a good guy and keeps to himself its just that im a private person and i just don't want him around. He has done some stuff that really rub me the wrong way but now i just let it go untill he leaves. How did you know he was a drunk LOL. He is not a drunk but a very bad drinker. Just a nasty drunk and the other day i had to go to the police station because once again he got caught drinking and driving. Just something i don't need in my life. It didn't even seem to bother him. I think it bothered me more. I gave him like four simple rules and he has a hard time following any of them. I swear he is a control freak and this is why his relationships all go wrong. Sad thing is the kid has movie star looks but the brain of an ant. If i had his looks i think i would be dangerous. No shit the kid looks just like Mel Gibson. I guess this is where he learned how to drink.
