I don't know what it is, but I thought Edward's speech last night solidified why I could never vote Democrat again. I actually thought Edwards would help convince me against voting for Bush, but he actually did the opposite. The entire time I was listening to his speech, I felt sorry for anyone who would listen to what he is saying and take it as reality.
My wife, who is much kinder hearted than myself and not politically motivated in the slightest bit, looked up from feeding our baby and said "these people really prey on the ignorance of the poor, don't they?" Now not knowing my wfie, I don't expect any of you to know how profound a statement that was coming from her, but I can tell you that it is profound.
I also felt like the things that he said last night could only be accepted as truth by uneducated people. Not to any fault of their own, but how can what he was saying inspire you to back that leadership.
Now on the flip side of this, you have our current President. Obviously, he is not the sharpest tool in the shed, and he has made his mistakes. But, at least I feel most/some of the items that he is trying to accomplish are in line with my family's needs as well as the overall better of the country. Also, I feel that the items that he is trying to accomplish are real issues and not just things that sound good on paper to rally the troops.
I think this election is going to be very tight. I think that Bush is going to win the election. If he doesn't win it, then we will just steal it :moon: , but if Kerry is in office I think this country will be in worse shape at the end of his term than it was at the beginning on REAL issues.
Just my take. Besides the long winded rant here, my take last night from Edwards' speech was that it was very poor. The crowd sure was fired up, though. The poor and oppressed Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick were certainly behind helping the poor and suffering.
Also NBCs coverage was pretty bad. Did anyone see them cut off Sen. Zell Miller mid-sentence because he was calling Edwards to task. They immediately cut to Tennessee's senator who was singing the praises. That was very Left-wing media at its best. Say what we want you to say, or the interview is over. Not saying it doesn't happen both ways, but why even slate to have Miller on because you know where he stands.
