My Week 7 Dilemma...I may have to give up a football Sunday!!

Dilemma this week:

I'm in a Golden Tee Golf regional tournament in Brantford this weekend (about an hour away from home), a warmup for the Team Canada playdowns in two weeks for the right to go to the World Championships in Orlando next month. Top 16 qualifiers from a field of about 32 on Saturday get to play on Sunday. I figure my odds (if I was an oddsmaker) of making it to Day 2 are about -160. :) Odds of winning the whole thing however would be like +1000 or so. There are some DAMN good players in this thing, at least a half dozen of them, that can clean my clock. Field includes the current Canadian champion, the young fearless punk who was runner-up to him, :) and the world's top blind play stroke average player. Also rumoured to be there for this "fun" tournament this weekend are 2 or 3 of the USA's Top 10 players. Ugh.

So...do I tank it on Saturday so I can be here on Sunday to watch the NFL, given that I really think I have a snowball's chance in hell of actually winning the whole thing? Or do I give it full effort and try to qualify for Sunday, guaranteeing myself at least a small payout just for making it, not to mention gaining valuable head-to-head experience for the big tourney in two weeks? Decisions, decisions. :confused: I love my Sunday Ticket and don't know how I can go thru a Sunday having just one NFL game on and no clicker in my hands. (Not to mention my golf game will suck since I will be doing nothing but watching the little transparent ticker on the screen - we'll be stuck watching the Buffalo game I am sure).

What would you do in this situation?

If the weather in your area is calling for a fantastic fall weekend,
I'd play some serious golf.......if it calls for crappy weather, i'd
buy at least a 12 pack more than I think I could possibly drink
and enjoy the indoors........:D

The NFL will be here next weekend and the weekend after that and so on. If you have the opportunity to personally achieve something of this nature then you need to strap it in and go for the throat. The NFL will be waiting for you when you get back. Good luck if you pursue it!

Not sure if you are kidding or not?

The Golden Tee Golf he is talking about is a video game they have in bars, so the weather isn't much of an issue. :shrug:

Quantum - Tanking in this tourney won't affect my status for the Team Canada qualifier...these are two separate events. So if I don't do well this weekend, no biggie. Team Canada qualifier is weekend of Nov 2 & 3, and no matter what I am going for all I can grab in that one. Top 6 guys that weekend go to Orlando all expenses paid & are guaranteed at least a $1500 cash prize on top of that. This weekend's event is just "for fun", though most of the serious contenders are using it as a warmup for the big one. I've already played against most of the serious players at one time or another in the past so I'm very familiar with who can do what.

alb - So you're arriving on the night of the 31st then? How appropriate, scary guy that you are. :) I can probably find a way to swing that and pick you up, though I'd hate to tear myself away from handing out rotten apples to the 4 kids who will be trick or treating in this neighbourhood. Email me the details, you can stay here if you want.

Blitz - Weather is definitely a factor! Strong winds and wet greens can definitely affect your game. Even indoors. :)
