"Big profits in nanotechnology, says consultant Jack Uldrich. By 2015, nanotechnology-the science of building devices from single atoms and molecules-will be the basis for $2.6 trillion in products in chemicals and materials, equipment, electronics, energy and other sectors. Stocks poised to profit: Intel Corp. (INTC) will repeatedly double the number of transistors on a semiconductor chip over the next 15 years. Aggressive investors might consider Headwaters Inc. (HW), an energy company developing new nanoparticles for refining oil in Canada's tar sands...and Starpharma Holdings (SPHRY.PK), an Australian company whose nanoscale device helps prevent HIV/AIDS and detect and treat early-stage cancer."

I work in a nanotechnology research group and we have just patented some new technology, which is being explored by several companies. I will update if any big developments arise.
