All this talk about a Big East team going undefeated does not deserve to get in the national championship game to a one loss sec team is a joke. Let me see now for all you sec lovers. If I can recall last year the SEC CHAMPION GEORGIA BULLDOGS played a Big East team in a bowl game. Well I guess the SEC team dominated the Big East team.I think it was WV by three over the mighty SEC CHAMPS in a bowl game. So how can one begin to argue a one loss SEC team deserves to get in. If Louisville goes undefeated they deserve to play for the National Championship. All these other one loss teams had a shot but they blew it. Football a lot of times is all about matchups. WV has so much speed they would give a lot of team fits. Hell those three guys they have are probably faster than any three guys off of any other college team.
I keep hearing people say if Michigan and Ohio State play a close game then they should match up again. Are you kidding me. So if I am Ohio State and I beat Michigan and they make it to the national championship game rematch and Michigan beat them then Michigan is the National Champs after losing to them. No way. The loser of that game should be out if another team is undefeated.

Lastly so Louisville has a shitty defense because they gave up some points against WV. DID NOT THE MIGHT SEC CHAMPS GEORGIA GIVE UP AROUND 35 pts against WV :scared

So louisville wins out should be LOUISVILLE VS OHIO STATE OR MICHIGAN

Guru,
I agree with your point... definitely should NOT be a rematch of Ohio St/Michigan...

But as Scott-Atlanta says... L-ville needs to take care of the rest of their business and win out now that they won the biggest game in school history...

I still think WVa is the best of the 3 tms (Lvill/Rutgers/WV) but I think Louisville could hold their own scoring (and I'll take the OVER bcuz their D is only average).

It makes a lot of sense to determine a team is worthy to play in the Nat'l Championship game b/c a team from their conference held on for a 3 point win in a bowl game last year. These Big East teams wouldn't be in consideration if they had to play Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, LSU and Georgia week in and week out.

Name one Top 25 team that someone from the Big East has beaten this year. You can't do it. That's enough to keep the Big East champ out of the championship.

louisville beat wvu (obviously) and miami. whether or not wvu is top 5 worthy is up for debate. but its still a good win. the miami win doesnt look like much now, but the canes defense has been the real deal all season. its very doubtful louisville could shut down a top 5 team like michigan or ohio state or any of the three main sec teams. but that miami performance proved louisville can score on anyone. so they arent completely outclassed when it comes to matching up in a potential championship game. are they worthy? no. but would it be a rout? no to that as well.

gman,

By no wins against top 25 teams, I meant outside of the conference. Obviously Miami isn't ranked anymore. One thing I think most people are overlooking is the fact this conference has no quality wins on the road (outside the conference.)

If L'ville goes undefeated, IMO their season doesn't match up to what some of the top one-loss teams have done.

you could not be more wrong.

Louisville has wins over #3 WVU, A miami team who was ranked BETTER than they were at the time, and if they win out, theyll have a win over #15 OR BETTER Rutgers. Thats 3 wins over top 15 teams.

LVille wont belong. Period. Hopefully they lose to Rutgers and make this whole thing a little more sensible.

Seriously - take USC, LSU, Florida, Texas, Tenn, Mich, OSU, Auburn, Cal, ND.......anybody seriously taking LV to win SU on a neutral field?

Funny how we alos hear about how tough PItt is gonna be. That would be the same team that got blown out at home by Michigan State.

Was frankly sick of the LV jocksniffing by Herbstreit last night Had the sense he doesnt want his boys ahveing to play one of the strong teams for the marbles.

WIll be real interesting to see how the polls look after this week....does LV pass Texas if the Horns impress? If Tenn beats LSU tell me why thye arent ranjed ahead of LVille? And so on....

:nono: :nono: :nono:

If Louisville was in the SEC, they would NOT play those teams week in week out. So that is not a valid argument. In fact, a VERY BAD argument. SEC is not as tough as you make it out to be.

Since YOU are an Auburn fan, lets replace Louisville with Auburns "tough SEC" schedule.

Auburns does NOT play the teams you mentioned WEEK in WEEK out. They do play Buffalo, Tulane, and Arkansas ST. in OOC play!

AUBURN SEC SCHEDULE (SEC teams in red)

Washington State
at Mississippi State
LSU
Buffalo
at South Carolina
Arkansas
Florida

Tulane
at Mississippi
Arkansas State
Georgia
at Alabama

Where does Auburn play 2 TOUGH SEC teams back to back? :SIB

You said Louisville would be playing tough SEC teams week in week out.

please read my post again. i'm talking about wins outside the conference. miami is not ranked now. i could care less what they were when they played. 3/4 of the way through the season miami has 3 losses and probably have one more coming tomorrow. based on the top 25 now (not preseason, not 3 weeks in and definitely not last year) this conference has no OOC wins against top 25 teams and that is not going to change.

what hostile environment has louisville faced?

was it temple, k state, or middle tennessee (neutral)?

oh, it's having to go to death valley next thursday in the football mecca known as piscataway, nj and then playing the pitt panthers late in november. that is just brutal.

I'm torn, it sucked to lose last night, the game and the $$$. WV could still get a piece of the Big East title if they win out. My problem is I pull for my team but in the big picture of NCAAF I must also pull for the conference.

Who to support for next Thur (L'ville or Rutgers)
Big East best chance to play for NCAA championship is L'ville, they have been a power for several years and have the respect of the pollsters to get the nod, I think their defense is suspect as is WV's. (WV beat themselves with turn overs and a special teams blunder. I still think WV is the better team.) Rutgers is good but this is new to them and even if they win out, they would be a tough sell. They would be deserving of the shot based on record but the pollsters would pass over them for a one loss team. (IMO)

Still a lot of football to play, we will see soon enough how it plays out. In the meantime I would like to make some money.
