Nationals placed RHP Stephen Strasburg on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to July 22, with a pinched nerve in his neck.
So this apparently has nothing to do with the shoulder issue that just cost Strasburg six weeks of action, but he will miss at least one more turn in the Nationals' rotation. Tommy Milone is being called up to start in his place Thursday night in Miami. Strasburg has been limited to 14 starts and 85 1/3 innings this year with Washington, and he currently holds a relatively pedestrian 3.90 ERA.
Nationals purchased the contract of LHP Tommy Milone from Triple-A Syracuse.
Milone will start for the Nats on Thursday night in Miami in place of Stephen Strasburg, who was placed on the disabled list Thursday morning with a pinched nerve in his neck. Milone, 31, had registered a 4.19 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 113/24 K/BB ratio in 109 2/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level
