This was my pretzel logic for Game 1, and of course we all know what happened.
I'm going with San Antonio in Game 1.
San Antonio is more rounded and plays more under control. They are more rested. They have been here before. And they have the MVP of the league. Spurs, therefore, should win Game 1. Can they cover the number? As seen in Game 1 & 4 of the Sacramento/Dallas series, Dallas doesn't perform well after a hard fought battle. When they lose, they lose big.
I am going to take San Antonio again in Game 2, with some of the same logic as in Game 1. Dallas is playing with a world of confidence, but I still think San Antonio is the better, more rounded team.
Open up and lose!
This is probably the dumbest angle in handicapping NBA games, but it seems to me whenever a superstar opens his big fat mouth, his team loses the next game.
Case #1 ? Koby Bryant after a loss in Game 5 with San Antonio: ?ain?t nobody can stop Koby. Only Koby can stop himself. Bowens can?t stop Koby. San Antonio didn?t beat us. We beat ourselves." Note: Mr. Bryant referred to himself in the first person. What a dumb phuck!
Case #2 ? Allen Iverson after a loss in Game 5 with New Jersey: ?ain?t nobody out there can stop me. I score whenever I want. I just had a bad night. New Jersey didn?t beat us. We beat ourselves. "
Case #3 ? Charles Barkley after winning Game 3 (check me on this) of the 1995 Western Conference Finals versus the Houston Rockets, where the Suns went up 3-0. : ?This series is over. Ain?t no way in hell Houston?s gonna win this series.? Rockets went on to win the NBA Finals.
I can?t recall exactly what Nick van Exel said in his postgame interview on Monday, but it was a little too much on the cocky side. To me, this is the kind of shit that stirs up your opponents.
Give me 2 units on the Spurs at ?7? to crush Dallas tonight.
Also, I'm putting half a unit on the game to go over the total. Any game involving this crazy Mavericks team constitutes a play on the over. And vice versa on the eastern conference...those dumb MOOKS can't score to save their balls (gonads).
San Antonio -7.5
over 204
Best of luck out there
