This early game features the "flam'n out" Heat and the "vapor-locked" Pistons.

-Det comes into this one on a 7 game losing streak...playing 6 of the 7 on that brutal westcoast road trip.

-Meanwhile the Heat have lost their last 5 straight.

-Both teams are playing their 3rd game in 8 days.....so fatigue isn't huge here.

INTERESTINGLY

If you combine their last 7:

Scoring & Shooting %

-Pistons......Heat.....Total
78 on 35%...86 on 43% = 164
75 on 38%...96 on 46% = 171
89 on 46%...76 on 38% = 165
81 on 39%...81 on 35% = 162
88 on 42%...56 on 27% = 144
98 on 47%...76 on 44% = 174
77 on 37%...86 on 51% = 163

83.7 on 40.5%...79.5 on 40.5 = 163 <-average

ONLY ONE OF THE LAST 7 COMBINED WOULDA COVERED TODAY'S 172!
_____________________________________________

-Heat are already looking to the 2003-04 season as the target for become competitive!

-Riley says he's staying...BUT...will be looking at the "free agent" market to get the spark he needs for this team. Doesn't sound like "big time" confidence in Eddie Jones as "go-to-guy"...does it??

Looking beyond the numbers you gotta be real concerned if your a Heat player after Pat Riley's recent comments:

-"We're buliding toward 2003. Between now and then I'd like to stay competitve. That's why we signed some of our veteran players. Zo, Brian and Eddie will be the core we're going to build around."

-On Tim Hardaway's departure to Dallas...Riley says..."NO PLAYER ON OUR ROSTER IS CLOSE TO HARDAWAY'S ASSERTIVENESS. TIM HAD A SPECIAL GIFT NONE OF THESE PLAYERS HAVE."

-Boy that's the way to motivate the team Pat!

-The Heat's problems leading up to Eddie Jones' promotion to "go-to-guy" status has frustrated this Heat team. Jones himself admits he hasn't been coming through for the team.
---------------------------------------------

The O/U is 172 and the Pistons -5'

---------------------------------------------

-If your a Heat player and just read what your coach said....how you gona feel about yourself today???

-I think there is a lot of doubt in the Heat's mind right now...especailly in the mind of that "go-to-guy" JONES. Not that the Pistons are on some kinda roll right now...but...I like the Pistons to win and cover this home game.

-The Pistons need this one badly before heading back out on the road trip to San An on Jan. 2 and on to Houston the next day!

-Also, like the under 172 due to both teams' recent shooting and point output.

Let's go Free Throws TEAM.....get another 5500+ hit JT thread night!

28-18 YTD...2-2 LN ez

Hope ya get in on this action dnugs....then I'll be taking a little more Det. Yeah, price is tad higher than I'd like at -5' but the visitor we're talk'n about here is the Heat.

My guess is the linesmen needed a hook and some to feel comfortable.

GL to you on the Griz...they've been money since that Thursday night LAL win. ez

Well it didnt drop for me, thing is theres two teams you need to watch out laying points against, ny and miami, for whatever reason there games are almost always decided by small margins.
