Hi Guys

back to the basketball . .. . Lot of changes in the off-season which will need to be factored in.

Will try to keep a record for NBA specifically.

NBA Record : 0 - 0

Playing the following :

SA Spurs @ LA Lakers
(Point Spread) SA Spurs -2.0
Risk: 250.00 To Win: 227.27

Spurs will be out for revenge. Duncan is going to be focussed tonight and with the Lakers having no inside presence this will be great for the Spurs who will get a lot of second chances. Hopefully Steve Smith and Parket can hit the shots and Duncan and Robinson can go about their usual way. Not sure about how Bryan plays but I think the Spurs will want to win this game more than the Lakers.

Talent wise the Spurs may have the overall team edge. With Shaq sitting out there go 20+ points 10+ rebounds 2+ blocks and a huge inside presence. Fox suspended also so that is good bcoz Fox is like a fox .. crafty guy.

I am not playing totals yet as wanna see how the officiating will be and how players are. I think games may be low scoring as players will be rusty. Also some injuries and suspensions.

my leans are :

Orlando / Philly Under 192
Sac / Clev Under 200
Spurs / Lakers Under 185.5

Good luck and Cheers and hope its a profitable NBA season

Spurs Starting lineup:
12 Bruce Bowen F 6-7 7th yr
21 Tim Duncan F 7-0 6th yr
50 David Robinson C 7-1 14th yr
8 Steve Smith G 6-8 12th yr
9 Tony Parker G 6-2 2nd yr
Reserves:
10 Speedy Claxton G 5-11 2nd yr(probable)
35 Danny Ferry F 6-10 13th yr
20 Manu Ginobili G 6-6 1st yr (probable)
3 Stephen Jackson G/F 6-8 3rd yr
25 Steve Kerr G 6-1 15th yr
31 Malik Rose F 6-7 7th yr 20
42 Kevin Willis C 7-0 18th yr

Lakers Starting lineup:
30 Tracy Murray F 6-7 11th yr
52 Samaki Walker F 6-9 6th yr
0 Soumaila Samake C 6-10 2nd yr
8 Kobe Bryant G 6-7 7th yr

21 Kareem Rush G 6-6 1st yr
Brian Shaw G 6-6 14th yr (questionable)

**************************************************

Am gonna try to break the game down.

For me this game is about revenge for SA. They have been kicked out by LA and this year is gonna be their best chance as Robinson is retiring and Duncan is free agent.

Couple of changes made by SA :
1. Signed Kevin Willis to back up Robinson.
I am not sure if Willis will play tonight but this is a good move. Willis even though he is 40 is the same height he was when he was 30 (7 feet) and should be able to rebound efficiently. He can be good for a couple of points and is a good backup in case Robinson is in foul trouble (especially if Shaq was playing).
Willis does not have to play a lot of minutes but can be a useful player.

2. Signed Steve Kerr
This guy came in the trade with Portland.

San Antonio trades G Antonio Daniels, C Amal McCaskill and G Charles Smith to Portland for G Erick Barkley, G Steve Kerr and a 2003 second-round pick

Steve Kerr adds an outside threat as one of the best 3 point shooters ever. He along with Steve Smith and Danny Ferry will be good for SA with Duncan and Robinson banging the boards.

3. Philadelphia trades G Speedy Claxton to San Antonio for F Mark Bryant and draft rights to G/F John Salmons and F Randy Holcomb.

Speedy Claxton will be a good backup point guard. I think he wont play today against LA but shud be useful for SA.

Parker at point guard has one year experience in the NBA and must be more confortable with the coach and team members overall.

FOR LA :

1. L.A. Lakers trade G Lindsey Hunter and draft rights to F Chris Jefferies to Toronto for F Tracy Murray and draft rights to G Kareem Rush

Hunter did not help out LA as much as they thought he would. Now they are starting Tracy Murray. Murray sat out the end of the season last year with injuries. He will start for the Lakers. He is a good shooter when he has his rythm but if SA plays him straight up he wont be a threat as he is not quick with his first step like many other players.

2. LA also has 2 rookies on the bench.

****************************************************

Injuries from Covers.

SA

Kevin Willis C Knee Ques Tues
Speedy Claxton G Knee Ques Tues

LA

Rick Fox G Suspended Out 6 games
Mark Madsen F Hamstring Doubt Tues
Brian Shaw G Groin Ques Tues
Shaquille O'Neal C Toe I-R

Since shaw is not available Fisher will have to play more mins. They do have 2 rookie guards available.

****************************************************

Overall I see good defence from SA and Duncan to have a very strong game. This guy wants to win and he has an excellent opportunity to start the season with a win in LA who have been there nemesis for last few years.

Expected Final Score :

San Antonio 97 Lakers 85

Good luck
Cheers !!!

did not bold it ..

CLE Cavaliers @ SAC Kings
(1st Quarter Spread) SAC Kings -4.0
Risk: 250.00 To Win: 217.39

I think Sac will come out strong. Cavs on the road horrible. Cavs overall are horrible.

They got rid of top 3 scorers from last season:
Lamond Murray, Andre Miller and Wesley Person.

Ilgauskas was second in scoring and rebounds in the pre-season but was caught drunk driving and is thus not able to play due to a suspension. Their No 1 Draft pick is also not available.

Staring line up for Cleveland:

Bimbo Coles, Darius Miles, Ricky Davis, Diop and Tyrone Hill

Miles led Cavs in scoring and rebounding in the preseason where they had a 2-5 record. Diop the 2001 No 1 Draft pick played only 18 games. He was not given more time last year due to foot problem and lack of understanding.

Tyrone Hill is not a huge scorer. Ricky Davis needs to be controlled. Yogi Stewart as backup Center is a joke. Jumaine Jones shud be available on the bench.

The Coach Lucas is also suspended for this game . He is allowed to be with the team till 2 hrs before the game starts. But he wont be able to make decisions on the court.

Sac will be w/o Christie and Bibby .. Webber is Questionable but hopefully they have enuf arsenel to keep the Cavaliars at bay.

I find 13 points too much as lot of bets go bad in garbage time. But if SAC wanna come out strong in the game it has to be done in the first Quarter.

Injuries for Cleveland:

Dajuan Wagner G Blood clot I-L
Zydrunas Ilgauskas C Suspended Out Tues
Chris Mihm C Hamstring Out 4-6 weeks

Hopefully Divac, Pollard, Funderburke and Turkoglu can exploit this.

The biggest asset I see early on in terms of scoring and rebounding is KEON CLARK. Having watched him in Toronto at the games live this guy is a hard working and wanna impress his coach. Hopefully he will not try too hard but with his skills there is NO ONE on the Cavaliers who can stop him. Also if Stojakovic can get a few shots in early he can settle into a nice rythm.

Bobby Jackson is adequate at point along with the other guards.
The crowd should be pumped up and Sacremento should be able to roll to a

36 - 17 First Quarter

In the only game in the preseason

After 1 Quarter
Kings 36 Cavs 19

Ilgauskas had 14 points and 7 rebounds in the game.
Christie had 6 points and 5 rebounds.

Ricky Davis had huge game with 32 points with Miles going 2-12.
Hopefully today he goes 1-14.

Webber did not play in the pre-season game.

Good luck to all
Cheers !!!
