Record:
Sides 2-0
First Quarter Side: 1-0
First Half Side: 1-0
Second half Side : 1-1
Starting bankroll : $605
Current bankroll : $1302.03
Note: Unders are good plays right now. One of the reasons being that people can be rusty on offence but does not take a lot to put your hands up and challenge the shot. For that you need to be fresh and since the season is new you will see better defence. Also another angle is that since a lot of the teams have off-season trades the new unit on the floor may not have played a lot with each other to be totally comfortable.
Having said that you will notice that I have not played any Totals yet. Reason being that I am confident of the sides I pick right now and will venture into totals when I have the feel of the referees and team offences.
** Other than Sacremento EVERY TEAM in the NBA played yesterday. So you have 5 of 6 teams playing today Back to Back. I think a good spot for the Under.
Playing the following today:
UTA Jazz @ ATL Hawks
(Point Spread) ATL Hawks -3.0
Risk: 150.00 To Win: 125.00
* you may get a better line. I just have one book
Now this will not be a popular bet. Most of the money thrown on NBA today will concentrate on the bigger games - Portland Vs Sac and Washington Vs Boston. Other people who are left with money to throw on the third game will (if they have not capped the game) select Utah. I think the line should be higher but that is my opinion.
Atlanta Hawks have tried to bring in people and get the organization to a level where they can draw a crowd.
Hawks first game at home. Usually I would not place importance on this so much but I expect a really good all round game from the Big Dog Glenn Robinson. The point that he is definitely a good player has been proved time and again. He seems to be in a very good flow also as he scorched the Nets for 34 points yesterday. In a new team for the first time in front of the crowd I am sure he will perform excellent.
Shareef Abdur Rahim is expected to play today. Even though he may not play a lot of minutes he is one guy who has been very consistent thru out his career. He was the team leader last year in terms of points and rebounds. If he is playing not only do they get the points but also a guy who crashes the glass. Last year he did not get selected for the All Star Game even though he is very deserving and I am sure this year he will play such that he cannot be ignored.
** Point is the best two players on the Hawks are motivated.
For the rest of the team and the coach: All wanna win at home.
Darwin Ham who came from the Bucks is a good addition. This guy also is a good utility player and can help Atlanta out greatly. Kukoc unfortunately was not doing anything much in Atlanta and this team is not what it was last year. Terry is a very good player and hard to contain. Ratliff played only 3 games last year I think and this year he is healthy and provides good defence. He shot well yesterday to put up 10-12 points on the board.
Team management is so confiedent that they will win this year that they have guarenteed that " If the Hawks do not make it to the playoffs this year, a $125 refund to each full-season-ticket holder will be issued"
When this has been said I am sure the importance of this game has been impressed up the players to start the season at home with a positive note. If i am employed by a company and the company is going to lose money directly because of my efforts I will be damned if I dont put in a good performance. Of course the difference is that these jokers can survive for 70 years on their salary from one year where as I will be heading straight to the Employment Office for welfare.
Coming to Utah:
Jazz committed 22 turnovers in the opening game. They did not look sharp which points to the team not comfortable on the floor with each other. Against Hornets Jazz did not play the pick and roll a lot. Hopefully they stay off it today also.
during the offseason Jazz lost Marshall and Russel. They two guys were both good scorers .. and also good defence from them.
Last night they got hammered in New Orleans. Back to back is not good for any team but when your top two players are approaching 40 its not good at all. Jazz does not play the running game well and prefer to slow down the pace of the game. Unfortunately in Atlanta u have people who like to run the ball and I think Atlanta will blow the game open in the second half.
Atlanta has much more to lose than Jazz and that is why I think they will try their best to win this game.
A good point to see is that even after being down by 19 points the starters did not come out and they gave a good fight till the end to ultimately lose by 11 points. Against the nets they matched the second half total and that is a really good sign to see from a team. Jazz on the other hand just gave up in the second half and disintegrated. Hopefully same thing happens today.
Hopefully Hawks come out on top by around 8-10 points.
Good luck and Cheers !!!
