Record:

Sides 1-0
First Quarter Side: 1-0
Second half Side : 1-0

Starting bankroll : $605
Current bankroll : $1145.11

Things have been falling in place today also. Lets see if we can keep up the run and make some money.

Playing the following:

ORL Magic @ MIA Heat
(Point Spread) ORL Magic -3.5
Risk: 145.11 To Win: 131.92

I think this line gives too much respect to Miami. Agreed Miami has great record when it comes to opening game. But their players may be rusty and Magic had a great game yesterday and will be full of confidence.

Miami is the phase of rebuilding. Couple of rookies who may be good but can be defensive liabilities.

Orlando pulled away from Philly yesterday in the end and you can see that Orlando is one hungry team. Grant Hill is back and MacGrady started where he left off last season scoring 31 points in the opener. The new rookie for Orlando played very well also.

Carter will be starting at point ahead of Travis Best for Miami. Both teams have problem at Centre. Brian Grant is an undersized Centre. If Stephania starts at Centre than Brian Grant will most likely be at Power Forward position. Miami will have to depend on Sean Marks [who got $$ for sitting on bench in Toronto] or Malik Allen for the PF spot depending on who is playing at Centre.

I think the duo tandem of Hill and MacGrady will be too much to handle for Miami. Miami style of play is not the running game and they tend to keep things slow. Orlando plays a fast paced game and Magic may get some fast breakaway points. Magic did not get a good seeding last year and I am sure they want to go deep into the Eastern Conference.

Kemp played decent minutes yesterday for 6 points and 7 rebounds on 3-5 shooting.

ATS Miami did extremely well against the Magic last season. But I am not considering last year because:
a. They have Grant Hill back who can be a big scorer and play good defence.
b. MacGrady has started to play defence and rebound well along with his usual offence.
c. Kemp even though he is not even a fraction of the player he was in Seattle can be much more productive then Ewing was last season.
d. Miami are not totally undersized against Miami as compared to other teams like Sixers or Nets.
e. Mourning is on the IL. Mourning averaged 15.7 points and 8.4 rebounds last season.

Miller and Garrity along with Armstrong can light up the basket from outside.

I have a lot of respect for Pat Riley but the young guns coached by Doc Rivers are ready to take over.

I see Magic winning by at least 8 points or so.

Good luck and Cheers !!!

# am also looking at the following plays:
a. Porland Under
b. Knicks Under
c. Hornets -4
d. Toronto <--- will not touch this one most likely. will just sit back and enjoy the game on TV.

Point d should read:

Magic
are not totally undersized against Miami as compared to other teams like Sixers or Nets.

SPOCK VERY SMART THINKING WHEN CAPPING BB ONE SHOULD TAKE LAST YEAR AS VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE OF CAPPING- INFLATED LINES OFF OF LAST YEARS PERFORMANCE OR PERCEPTION OF TEAMS IS FAR FROM REALITY IN MANY CASES. OVERS EARLY ON WILL KILL PLAYERS TEAMS PLAY MUCH BETTER TEAM D IN EARLY GAMES AND THUS O IS DOWN BUT USING NUMBERS FROM LAST YEAR OR THE END OF LAST SEASON THESE GAMES SHOULD FLY OVER BUT THEY WILL NOT. GL ON YOUR PLAYS

Thanx guys.

Thunder: Thanx for the kind words.

I have looked at a lot of other plays and I am sticking to one of the money makers theorem for me:

1 Play a Day.

Of course an exception can be made for half time plays :D

but i would consider :

Hornet -4
NY Under
Toronto Over

as good bets.

Cheers and good luck

After a lot of thinking (one hair went white in that period) have decided to make the following play:

Adding :

ATL Hawks @ NJ Nets
(1st Half Spread) NJ Nets -5.0
Risk: 165.00 To Win: 150.00

NJ Nets will be raising their first Eastern Conference Championship banner before the game. I think this will highly motivate the players in the team. One of the reasons I think this will motivate a team like NJ but not LA is that for NJ this is the first banner. When it becomes a routine like it did for LA the players dont care too much.

Last year the Nets had a tendency to really come out strong and build up a huge lead in the first half. They have got used to the rotation and Kenyon Martin has stated that he will be a much better rebounder this year than before. Muchollah and Van Horne are gone but u have Mutombo who is undoubtedly one of the best shot blockers in the game. The addition of Mutombo will also give the Nets a big boost for the low post game.

Kidd missed out on the MVP due to politics and he will definitely turn in a good performance this season. The Nets have great depth on their bench and they would like to give a very good performance at home in the first game of the season.

With Mutombo in the lineup look for NJ to play much better defence that last year. Glenn Robinson will try to play good but hopefully he will not succeed.

Coming to Atlanta :

Atlanta got the Big Dog Glenn Robinson and Darvin Ham from the Bucks in the off-season for Toni Kukoc and couple of others. The team is good but TODAY they are short handed.
Shareef Abdur Rahim did not even travel with the team and Nazr Mohammad is injured. Chris Crawford and Demarr Johnson are also on the IL.

Lack of a Centre is going to hurt Atlanta. Nazr the backup centre is not playing and this is going to be trouble. Mutombo will have free access to the bucket and look for a lot of second chances for the Nets. Theo Ratliff will not be able to contain Mutombo and also Kenyon Martin from hanging around the basket and rebounding.

Nets know that the Hawks are shorthanded and they will pounce on this Hawk instead of other way round.

The reason I am not taking the full game for -9.5 is bcoz one just does not know whats gonna happen in garbage time. I think the Nets are gonna come out strong and establish the tempo.

Good luck and Cheers !!!

I still think Nets -3 was the right call for second half. But these dumb fux gave up 4 three pointers to Atlanta in the space of 3-4 mins and then missed free throws at the end. Lost the bet as both teams scored even for the second half.

Congratz to those who had Bulls ML

Recap:

Record:

Sides 2-0
First Quarter Side: 1-0
First Half Side: 1-0
Second half Side : 1-1

Starting bankroll : $605
Current bankroll : $1302.03

ORL Magic @ MIA Heat **** WINNER *****
(Point Spread) ORL Magic -3.5
Risk: 145.11 To Win: 131.92

ATL Hawks @ NJ Nets WINNER
(1st Half Spread) NJ Nets -5.0 **** WINNER *****
Risk: 165.00 To Win: 150.00

ATL Hawks @ NJ Nets **** LOOSER LOOSER *****
(2nd Half Spread) NJ Nets -3.0
Risk: 125.00 To Win: 104.17

Profit for the day: $156.92

Note: I was wondering if i was greedy in going for the second half play. I think no but in retrospect the right play would have been Orlando PK in second half. I was gonna make the play since Miami has a history of playing slow and tired in second half with tired legs and Magic are young and play running game. This game was close also but shud have made this play also. Does not matter now but something to note in case a similar situation presents itself.

Good luck and Cheers !!!

Great calls on the first 2 plays, Spock. Well done.

I don't know about a second half play, but a cold beer and a foot massage always makes me looser ;)
