georgia (ML) 2 units to win 3.2. i don't like georgia as much as i did in the rose bowl, and we all saw what an easy win that was. :) but there are a number of reasons to like georgia tonight. for one thing, i've been very impressed with fromm. i remember his first start at nd. the kid just did not seem at all rattled. granted, as i mentioned last week, they don't ask him to do a lot. if he has to throw a lot, they're probably in trouble. BUT, at the same time, i have confidence in him to not try to do too much. he's only thrown 5 picks all year. in fact, i think georgia has the better qb in this game. i said this last year in the nc game, and i haven't seen anything to change my mind... i do not trust hurts in a big game. IF you can put alabama in a position where they have to throw, he will make mistakes.

georgia's defense was VERY impressive in the 2nd half against oklahoma. that was a great offense, unlike anything they've seen this year, and it took 30 minutes to adjust. but once they got into the flow of the game, they were dominant. well, tonight they are facing an offense they should be much more comfortable against. i like the georgia d to show there is more than one great defense playing tonight.

in fact, i don't know how alabama is going to move the ball much at all tonight. they relied on turnovers against clemson, and maybe they'll do it again tonight, but georgia has only turned the ball over 14 times all season. anyway, here's alabama's scoring drives against clemson... 47 yards, 46 yards, 27 yards and... that was it. they did not have a single drive more than 47 yards. if they can't get a short field a few times tonight, alabama is in trouble. they are not going to drive the length of the field against georgia.

a lot of alabama's injured linebackers are back now, but jennings is out tonight. that is a big loss. especially when you're going up against michel & chubb (sounds like a great law firm).

congratulations if you made is this far. i did not expect to write this much. i suppose the abridged version would be... alabama will sell out to stop the run, but i trust fromm to make good decisions and take what they give him. on the other side of the ball, i also expect georgia to make hurts throw the ball, and he will make a mistake or two.

over (46) 2 units. ok, here's the crazy shit. as much as i like both defenses, and expect them to be the best units on the field, championship games just always seem to go over the total lately. so to paraphrase what i said before the outback bowl... i have no clue how these teams are going to score more than 46 points, but somehow it's going to happen. maybe 3 defensive tds and one on special teams.

yeah, thanks for the push to the over. at least i broke even.

hahaha took me a second to understand your other comment. i thought you were talking about the detroit lions. which confused the heck out of me. yeah, i haven't been a psu fan since... well, you know. even before all that happened, i wasn't nearly as big of a fan as i used to be. ever since i really started wagering on sports, i dropped my fanhood. now when someone asks who my team is, i tell them "whoever my money is on." nothing gets in the way of an intelligent bet quite like being a fan of one of the teams.

anyway, i was very disappointed with the way psu handled... well, pretty much everything. so what little rooting interest i still had disappeared at that time.

hell, i dislike franklin and mcsorley enough that i tend to root against them right now. although i'd love to see barkley be a great nfl back.
