Interesting start to the season with KSt. not covering last week and a MAC team with an early big upset.

Let's start the season...

Miami(Oh) +11 - With road games early and often for this "Giant Killer" Miami will not be intimidated by Iowa especially after pushing last year against the Hawkeyes in Oxford. Now they start the season away and are getting 11 versus last year when they got 5 at home... with no Brad Banks and a shaky defense I think my alma matter may add to the MAC upset weekend.

Wisconsin -3 - West Virginia was 9-3 ATS last year but this Badger team is on a mission. Having Evans and Davis back healthy for the full season will make this a sleeper team all season for not only the Big Ten but maybe a BCS bid.

UConn -6 - Is it possibly that this team is really that good or is it Indiana is really that bad. I think a combination of both as UConn continues the surge they ended the season on last year.

Rutgers -12 - I'll post here that if this fails to covers I will never even breathe another word about Rutgers football but maybe I'm becoming a believer. HC Schiano has pulled in a hell of a class for '04 and near .500 this year will only strengthen his cause. SI had a great article last week about the woes of RU and the small but growing group who would love to see the sports teams dissolved. To avoid that talk Schiano must not only win the games the team should win but do so impressively. It starts this weekend...

VaTech -20 - I agree with Kirk Herbstriet that VTech could be in the Sugar Bowl in January. Not only that but they are very aware not to overlook MAC teams although they enjoy playing them since '97. Let's take a trip down memory lane... Homecoming for VTech that year was a MAC school that was a 19.5 dog. After gutting out a 24-17 Miami was thrown into the limelight and VTech stumbled the rest of the year after high expectations. Since then VTech is 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS vs. MAC teams. With CFla on the schedule I think Beamer will look to start the season off on the right foot and we'll get a glimpse of one of the most underrated defenses in the country.

Also playing VTech -10.5 1st Half.

Good luck to all this weekend!
