might try asu +3.5 again vs ucla, still bruins get by on mirrors for scores (tho Cal game was huge roller coaster both ways)

kansas line seems very fishy and Synder will run it up if he can, i see others like kS as well, lw KS hands bears 1 cheapie and BD TD or everyone covers, least my teaser hehe ....

one no one will understand but i might take aggies ML; okie st off 2 emotional HGs and has only travelled once this year other than to S(o)M(ajorly)U(gly) and that was NEB and they couldnt move ball an inch after first couple possessions ... something tells me aggies win SU, they have played plenty of tuff teams now, seen it all, Hokies, pitt, texas tech, utah, Neb.--maybe Franchy has them ready, need to do some PI on this one +180

Auburn ML might work too +140 ... just dont like lsu that much and auburn seems to be clicking nicely now

gl gregg :)

ps just checked another site, every single person is on OKIE ST that picked the game--which were many, plus this gem quote from newbie... Top Pick for the week: Oklahoma State -6 @ Texas A&M. (Still gonna see what "demigod capper--removed his name" has to say)

SD. St -4 vs Wy looks pretty juicey to me....... Wy beat BYU (thanx to a 60 int return for a td) should have trouble moving the ball against St D. While SD should be able to move the ball enough against Wy (lol) D to win this one by 14......

I don't know very much about the Sun Belt conference, I admit, but North Texas -2.5 over Midd Tenn State looks inviting at first glance.

LOVE Kansas getting all those points. Jayhawks didn't play especially well vs. Baylor, but that was clearly look-ahead scenario and K-state defense nowhere near what it has been in the past.

Also looking at Pitt -7 (when was last time Cuse ever "hung in" with decent team away from dome??)

Colorado looks tempting as huge home dog.

Don't be afraid to lay the wood with USC. Huskies looked good vs. Beavs and should be ready for this game, but truth be told, there is a HUGE difference in overall talent and play-making ability between these two foes.

Auburn is looking too good on a weekly basis now NOT to be considered....

Texas Tech and Missouri should light up the scoreboard for 70+ MINIMUM...so waiting to see a total on that.

Like Purdue getting 5 in what I view as two pretty evenly matched teams.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Bowling Green make an emphatic statement over Northern Illinois.

Good luck all

ALABAMA...Starting QB Croyle, who missed most of previous 2 games, re-aggravated his injured shoulder vs. Ole Miss, but he continued to play and is expected to be in lineup vs. Tennessee this week.

ARKANSAS...Star TB Cobbs (hamstring; 728 YR, 6+ ypc TY) was forced to leave Florida game after running for 88 yds. and a 1st-Q TD. Backup TB Howard relieved Cobbs, but he left after hurting his ankle. Jr. FB Pierce was forced into service at TB in loss to Gators even though he was less than 100% with a shoulder injury.

CENTRAL FLORIDA...Top RB Haynes, who has been trying to play thru nagging groin strain, re-aggravated the injury at Akron and was forced to leave game. RS frosh RB Wilcox had 6 carries for 43 yds. & a TD and 4 catches for 30 more yds. in loss to Zips.

CINCINNATI...Top RB Hall (concussion; 543 YR on 4.8 ypc in first 5 games) sat out loss at UAB, but should be back in action vs. Army after bye last week.

CLEMSON...Sr. RB Kelly, who had 93 YR and a TD in OT win over Virginia (his first significant action of season), left vs. N.C. State after hurting his ankle. Soph RB Coleman & sr. FB Jasmin combined for 88 YR, and Jasmin had Tigers? only TD, in 17-15 loss to Wolfpack.

FLORIDA STATE...Sr. CB Samuels, Noles? top cover guy, sat out rest of game vs. Virginia after hurting his neck/back in 1st Q.

GEORGIA...Versatile backup QB Shockley (knee) & starting soph DT Golston (shoulder) DNP at Vandy and will miss rest of season. Soph RB Milton, Dawgs ? top returning rusher from LY, is also thru for year with nagging leg injury that has kept him on sidelines for most of last month. Starting WRs Michael Johnson (shoulder) & Fred Gibson (knee) did not make trip to Vanderbilt.

IOWA...Starting QB Chandler bruised his knee vs. Ohio State, but he continued to play.

LA.-LAFAYETTE...Starting sr. QB Rekieta is out after breaking his collarbone vs. N. Mexico State. RS frosh Babb 17 of 29 for 177 yds. with a TDP and 2 ints., and he also ran for 63 yds. and 2 TDs in come-from-behind win over Aggies, Cajuns? first SU victory of season.

Blue-chip true frosh Broussard (6-0, 235) & RS frosh Vincent combined for 185 YR, and Vincent had 2 short TD runs, in 33-7 road win over Gamecocks. Starting LG Livings left game after hurting his knee.

MICHIGAN...Star SS Marlin Jackson (leg) sat out vs. Illinois. Soph S Stewart left in 3rd Q of win over Illini after hurting his leg.

MISSOURI...Soph backup QB Riccio got some snaps late in 4th Q of loss to Oklahoma, but HC Pinkel said it wasn ?t due to back injury star Brad Smith suffered earlier in game, and Smith is expected to be ready for Texas Tech this week.

NORTHERN ILLINOIS...Star sr. MLB Duffy (ankle; 122 tackles LY) DNP vs. W. Michigan and will miss rest of season. DE Frank (knee) also DNP and is doubtful this week. Jr. DE Moore (ankle) & soph OLB Lee (hamstring) DNP and are questionable.

OHIO...Starting sr. QB Ray (shoulder) has missed last 2 games, and backup jr. QB Hawk (elbow) DNP at Kentucky. Highly-regarded true frosh Everson (6-2, 220), who led 28-0 win over Cent. Florida 2 weeks ago with 3 TD runs and a TDP, was 10 of 18 for 147 yds. with a 54-yd. TDP & an int. and had 21 carries for only 28 yds. in 35-14 loss to Wildcats. Starting jr. slotback Owens (ankle) has missed last 2 games.

PENN STATE...Jr. QB Zack Mills (knee), who started first 5 games, returned to practice during bye week after sitting out last 2 games, and will be available vs. Iowa. Scouts say athletic soph Michael Robinson (655 YP, 101 YR in last 3 games) might continue to start under center, however. Blue-chip true frosh RB Scott (mono) DNP in last game and probably won?t be back until November, if he?s able to return at all TY.

RUTGERS...Frosh RB Hairston, who leads Knights with 546 YR, left vs. Pitt after hurting his knee. Starting WR & kick returner Moses (leg) was also hurt in loss to Panthers, as was starting FS Durango (knee). Starting OLB Beckford (knee) DNP and will miss rest of season.

SOUTH FLORIDA...Starting QB Banks (knee) sat out 55-7 win over Div. I-AA Charleston Southern, but he is expected to be in lineup at So. Miss.

SOUTHERN CAL...Star OLB Grootegoed re-aggravated high-ankle sprain vs. Notre Dame, and starting sr. LT Rogers (sprained knee) & sr. DE Nazel (dislocated thumb) were also injured in 45-14 win at South Bend. Starting TE Byrd DNP and will undergo season-ending knee surgery.

SOUTHERN MISS...Jr. QB D? Angelo (concussions), who has missed last 3 games, has been cleared to play. HC Bower re-opened competition for starting jobs at QB & RB during bye last week.

TCU...Starting QB Gunn, who missed 2 games last month with a shoulder injury, left vs. UAB after hurting his groin. Jr. Hassell was 4 of 10 for only 57 yds. with 1 int., but he led Frogs to 11 unanswered points in come-from-behind 27-24 win over Blazers. Starting CB Walker (leg) was injured during game, as was starting LT Alabi (ankle).

UAB...Starting QB Hackney dislocated the thumb on his throwing hand in 3rd Q vs. TCU, did not return, and is expected to miss rest of season. RS frosh Chris Williams was 3 of 11 for 34 yds. with an int. as Blazers blew 8-point 2nd-half lead in 27-24 loss to Frogs.

VANDERBILT...Starting QB Cutler suffered a concussion vs. Georgia, but he returned later in game and is expected to be available vs. So. Carolina.

WISCONSIN...Starting sr. QB Sorgi did not return after hurting his knee in 3rd Q vs. Purdue and is doubtful for this week. Coaches have confidence in jr. Tennessee at ALABAMA...MAJOR revenge game for Tennessee, which had 7-game series win streak snapped in 34-14 loss at Knoxville LY (worst loss of ?02). Remember, Vol QB Clausen was less than 100% due to injuries (14 of 26, but 3 ints.) and star WR K. Washington was sidelined with injury. Red Elephants scored on controversial 66-yd.fumble return (what looked to be incomplete pass was ruled a lateral) with just 3:37 gone in 1st Q.

Texas at BAYLOR...UT has taken no prisoners vs. old SWC rival Baylor lately, smashing Bears by avg. 50-6 margin over last 4Ys (Horns 3-1 vs. spread). UT ?s 41-0 romp LY could have been worse, as Horns led 31-0 at intermission before emptying bench in final 30 mins.

North Carolina at CLEMSON...UNC was missing star QB Durant due to injury in LY?s embarrassing 42-12 home defeat vs. Clemson. But Tar Heels are solid 9-4 as road dog last 2+Ys (2-0 TY).

Akron at CONNECTICUT...UConn has been solid investment since ?01, going 19-8 vs. spread. Huskies have covered 6 of past 8 vs. MAC squads.

Uab at GEORGIA...Possible flat spot for UGA, which has major lookahead to revenge game vs. Florida on tap. This clash has special meaning for UAB QB Hackney (hails from Atlanta, Ga.), who?ll play in front of many family and friends. (unless injured thumb keeps him out). Bulldogs are 12-6-1 vs. spread last 1+Ys (4-2 as DD chalk during span).

Minnesota at ILLINOIS...Minnesota controlled the pits in 31-10 romp LY, as Gophers outrushed Illinois 302-104. Illini are a frigid 1-8-1 vs. spread last 10. Kansas at

KANSAS STATE...KU looking to regain some respectability after suffering 64-0 blowout vs. rival KSU LY (worst loss in series history!). Recall, Jayhawks were missing injured QB Whittemore that afternoon. Wildcats are profitable 21-7-1 as DD home chalk last 5+ Ys (0-2 TY).

Miami-Ohio at KENT...Kent?s dual-threat QB Cribbs accounted for 315 yds. in 27-20 loss to M-O LY. Possible flat spot for RedHawks, who have major showdowns vs. MAC contenders Bowling Green & Marshall on deck.

Arkansas at OLE MISS...Ole Miss eager for another crack at Arkansas after sloppy performance in misleading 48-28 loss vs. Arkansas LY. Rebels?who outgained Hogs 450-336?were betrayed by 5 costly TOs (2 fumbles returned for Ark. TDs). Rebel QB Manning can?t be faulted, hitting 42 of 56 for 414 yds.

Texas Tech at MISSOURI...Mizzou sky high for rematch following 52-38 loss at TT LY (Tigers allowed 518 yds. & 38 FDs, worst defensive effort of year!). Mizzou felt it was emotionally and physically drained vs. Red Raiders following competitive battles with Oklahoma & Nebraska previous 2 weeks (same scheduling scenario TY).

Stanford at OREGON...Squads have alternated spread Ws & Ls over last 8 series meetings. Oregon, which easily covered in 41-14 pummeling LY, hosting Stanford for 4th straight meeting (98-01-02-03).

Syracuse at PITTSBURGH...Syracuse (4 lost fumbles) in serious payback mode following mistake-filled 48-24 home loss vs. Pitt LY, which snapped Orange?s 11-game series win streak.

Vanderbilt at SOUTH CAROLINA...USC covered 8 of past 10 in series (8-2 SU). Smu at TULSA...Offensively-challenged SMU is a money-burnin? 3-13 vs. spread last 16, while ascending Tulsa is 8-4 vs. number last 12.

Arizona State at UCLA...ASU?which recruits heavily in L.A. area?has covered 4 of last 5 in series & are traveling to Rose Bowl for 3rd straight series meeting (DNP LY).

Southern Cal at WASHINGTON...Favorable role for USC, which is 5-1 as DD road chalk since ?98. UW rushed for minus 5 yds. in 41-21 smashing at L.A. Coliseum LY. Husky QB Pickett completed 38 of 65, but produced just one TD when outcome was in doubt.

Marshall at WESTERN MICHIGAN...WMU is 0-6 as home dog since ?01 (0-2 TY).

BACKDOOR AND FRONTDOOR COVERS - The E Carolina/Army game was an 'almost' backdoor cover. EC did catch some breaks getting a 15 yd TD drive after a fumble and a 26 yd int return for a TD to lead 38-14 with 14:26 left in Army's first game under interim HC John Mumford. Army drove 62 yds for a TD and 11 yds for a TD after tackling the P and then drove 80 yds in 14 plays for a TD with 2:45 left to pull within 38-32 narrowly missing the backdoor cover (spread was 5') but EC recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock...

N Texas settled for a 27 yd FG in the 3Q to lead Utah St 37-21 but Utah St got a TD with 2:29 left for the backdoor cover. NT RB Patrick Cobbs rushed for 205 yds, his second straight 200 yd effort...

Kentucky held Ohio to 153 yds in the first 3Q's but gave up a 7 yd TD drive after a fumble and later a 58 yd TD pass on 3rd & 16 and only led 21-14 with 11:54 left in the game. UK drove 55 yds for a TD then after a fumble drove 56 yds for a TD with 3:00 left for the frontdoor cover. OU did drive to the UK 17 but was int'd with :39 left...

Amazing Backdoor Covers - We were thinking of putting the Pitt/Rutgers game under Dominating Halves as Pitt controlled the 1H vs Rutgers rolling up 427 yds and 9.7 ypp and they led 42-7. Rutgers would battle back in the 2H and got the backdoor cover. Rutgers had TD drives in the 2H of 77, 70, 24 and 90 yds gaining the majority of their yds and only lost 42-32 getting 16 points...

TT's BJ Symons hit 42 of 67 passes for 552 yds, his 6th straight game with over 400 yds. Tech trailed Oklahoma St 48-21 in the 4Q getting 3 points but would rally for four 4Q TD's and their xp with 3:51 left pulled them within 2 of the Cowboys and gave them the backdoor cover. OSU went for a fake punt with 2:08 left not wanting to give the ball to Tech and were stopped at the Tech 34. Symons was int'd at midfield and OSU ran out the clock.

STILL UNBEATEN - N Illinois had been scraping since their upset of Alabama but dominated against W Michigan with a 29-11 FD edge and 238-(-2) yd rush edge. It was a game they had scoring drives of 47, 71, 56, 75, 80, 80 and 56 yds and the score could have been worse but they settled for FG's from the 4, 5 and 14 yd lines in their 37-10 rout...

TCU remained unbeaten, but barely. This could have made it under Injuries of Note. UAB led 24-16 when starting QB Hackney was injured and UAB would not get a FD on their next 4 poss until taking over at their own 3 yd line trailing 27-24 and they were int'd at the TCU 45 with 1:14 left. TCU QB Gunn was also injured in the 3Q but the Frogs did finish with a 23-14 FD edge although the yards were close at 405-393.

WILD GAME IN THE BIG 10 - Michigan St/Minnesota could be called a Misleading Final in a couple of different aspects. The Spartans used some big plays to take a commanding lead and Minnesota, which finished with a 525-413 yd edge, used 2 late drives after trailing big but almost made a big comeback. Minny fumbled the opening KO setting MSU up for a TD but scored a TD with :37 left in the half to pull within 24-17. MSU then returned the KO 100 yds for a TD, recovered a fumble and added a 50 yd FG in the final :37 for a 34-17 lead. After Minny was SOD on 4th & 6 at the MSU 33 with 7:56 left trailing 37-24, the Spartans got a 60 yd TD run to apparently ice it 44-24 however UM drove 68 and 98 yds for TD's, the latter with 2:02 left, 44-38. MSU recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock. MSU is off to just their third 4-0 Big 10 start in school history winning conference titles in 1965 and 1966 the other 2 times.

HISTORY DID NOT REPEAT ITSELF - This past week two incredibly strong home underdogs from the past were both throttled in that role. We've won many Late Phone Selections with Rice as a home dog. The Owls were 13-1 ATS in the HD role and had the benefit of having a bye week to help prepare for Navy's option offense while Navy was off 2 big wins and away from their own home stadium for the 3rd straight week. It seemed like a great situation for Rice but they were steamrolled as Navy piled up 366 yds rushing and did not turn the ball over...

Notre Dame was 9-2 ATS as a home dog with 8 outright upsets including knocking off an unbeaten Florida St at home. Ty Willingham was 6-0 as a home dog with 5 outright upsets. Both Willingham and ND had delivered us many Late Phone Winners. Nothing was wrong with ND's offense as their first poss went 73 yds in 10 plays for a TD and they then went 44 yds in 7 plays for a TD. Unfortunately they were SOD at the USC 36 on their 3rd poss. Not mentioned was ND's D which simply collapsed allowing USC three 80 yd TD drives on their first 3 poss. USC rolled up 551 yds against what had been an outstanding ND defense. ND's offense, which had 210 yds in the 1H totaled just 69 yds in the 2H and they were thumped 45-14.

LETDOWN LOOKAHEAD AND SITUATIONAL HANDICAPPING - Georgia was off their big win over Tennessee and clearly came out flat. After playing in front of 107,000 the previous week, they played in front of just 27,823 against Vandy and most of those fans wore Georgia red. UGA had a grand total of 64 yds at the half after coming in averaging 408 ypg and actually trailed 2-0. Vandy QB Cutler was injured and with UGA clinging to a 10-2 lead early in the 4Q Vandy was SOD on 4th & 3 at the UGA 23. UGA drove 77 yds for a TD and then after a VU fumble, added a 25 yd FG with 2:52 left to lead 20-2. After Vandy got a garbage TD with :57 left, UGA returned the onside kick to the 1 and tacked on another TD with VU having a 34 yd FG blocked on the game?s final play.

DOMINATING HALVES - 1H. Texas absolutely dominated Iowa St in the 1H as they amassed a 346-45 yd edge with Iowa St gaining 26 yds on their first 21 plays. In fact, at the half, UT WR Williams had 56 yds passing and ISU's offense had 49 yds passing. UT led 27-0 at the half but let up some in the 2H and only won the game by 21 with ISU getting 228 yds in the 2H due to that let down...

Michigan had an amazing 291-50 yd edge at the half and 18-2 FD edge vs Illinois. They did need a 74 yd PR for a TD and a TD on 4th & goal at the 1 with :11 left to lead 35-0. In the 2H the Illini got 81 and 80 yd drives for TD's and were only outFD'd by the Wolves 12-11 in the 2H with UM giving their backups plenty of action...

While Wake Forest had just 12-8 FD and 259-166 yd edges in the 1H they led 42-0. They basically had 2 defensive scores with an int return for a TD and a fumble returned to the 1 setting up a TD and Duke was SOD at the Wake 25. Duke did finish the game with a 386-334 yd edge thanks to 93 and 76 yd TD drives in the 2H...

LSU had a dominating two halves against S Carolina as they finished the game with a 263-0 rushing edge and taking away two passes for SC, LSU finished the game with a 482-254 yd edge. LSU had a 97 yd, 21 play drive and a 91 yd, 14 play drive for TD's in the 1H and led 19-0 with SC getting a 45 yd Hail Mary pass on the last play of the 1H to get down to the 3 yd line. In the 3Q SC, on 3rd & 7 got a 77 yd TD pass for its only offensive score. LSU led 33-7 and finished the game at the SC 13 yd line taking a knee...2H.

Miami had 14-5 FD & 283-124 yd edges in the 1H vs Temple but only led 24-14. The 2H Miami thoroughly dominated as Temple would not record a FD in the 2H until less than 5:00 remained in the game and Miami drove 80, 57, 47 and 61 yds for TD's to lead 52-14. Temple was outFD'd 14-1 in the 2H. Temple had come into the game leading the Big East in passing ypg (274) but was held to just 21 pass yds.

RECORD BREAKERS - Tulane's Mewelde Moore became the second player in Div IA history to top 4,000 yds rushing and 2,000 receiving in a career joining Stanford's Darrin Nelson. Moore had 123 yds rushing and 57 receiving vs L'ville. UL had a couple of turnovers set up TD's including a 43 yd int return for a TD from Tulane but did have a 325-130 yd edge at the half finishing the game with a 500-403 yd edge in a 47-28 Friday Night Win on the Over 67!...

Toledo set a Kelly/Shorts Stadium record with 643 yds offense vs C Michigan. They won even more impressively than the 31-13 score would indicate as they allowed a 72 yd 3rd & 12 pass to set up a TD in the 1Q and led 31-6 before yielding a 66 yd, 11 play drive for a garbage TD with 3:19 left...

Boise St QB Ryan Dinwiddie set a WAC record with 395 1H passing yards, breaking the mark set by BYU's Jim McMahon vs UTEP in 1980. He hit 21 of 29 for 395 yds. It was such a dominating win that SMU Coach Bennett said that he would be looking towards the future after the 2H of the season and will start Fr QB Chris Phillips over the last five games...

Carnell "Cadillac" Williams had 6 TD's rushing which broke the school record despite Jackie Sherrill announcing his retirement effective the end of the season the Friday before the game. Auburn would rush for 405 yds with Williams rushing for 161 on just 15 carries and Brandon Jacobs rushing for 182 on 31 carries...

Arizona St shouldn't have needed the last play of the game to defeat N Carolina. ASU had 29-18 FD and 598-331 yd edges. NC got an 11 yd TD drive after FB Karney let the ball lie on the ground after what he thought was an incomplete pass but it turned out to be a lateral and NC returned it 30 yds. ASU settled for a 21 yd FG and lost a fumble at the NC 12. They missed a 32 yd FG and were SOD at the NC 36 and after leading 27-17 they trailed 31-27 when they got the ball with :36 left on their own 39. Walter hit 3 of 6 on the final drive including a 5 yd TD pass on the final play of the game for ASU's 2 pt win...

Ell Roberson broke Kansas St's career total offense mark which Lynn Dickey set in 1970 with 5,779 yds. K-St led Colorado just 15-13 at the half but used 2 blocked punts, one for a safety and one for a TD to extend the margin and outscored Colorado 34-7 in the 2H to get the cover...

OU?s Antonio Perkins got a 69 yd PR for a TD with 1:02 left in the half which was his 4th of the season and 7th of his career, both tying NCAA marks. His TD before the half put the Sooners up 31-10 but surprisingly despite 41 1H points, the two teams combined for just a pair of 2H FG's...

Virginia?s Alvin Pearman, who started in place of injured Wali Lundy at RB, set a school record with 16 rec's against Florida St. FSU led 13-0 early but were only up 19-14 when they took over with 6:28 left. FSU had a 1st & goal at the 6 yd line threatening for the TD that would give them the frontdoor cover but an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on FSU moved the ball back to the 18 and they gained 7 yards and took a knee on the final play.
