Just started looking at this stuff........ Looking forward to a profitable campaign with help from many strong cappers on this board:toast:

If the season started tomorrow, I would be on USC -14 over Southern Miss. Cocks need to start the season strong, and I believe in Garcia--particularly if the OL comes together as I anticipate. Only thing that scares me here is UGA is on deck for the Cocks.

Cie I love USC in this spot as well... USC plays well at home while USM wasn't a very strong road team a year ago... USM wasn't very strong on D a year ago and I don't expect them to be that much better this year... I think Garcia has a good year this year and the Cocks will be solid again on D... My prediction S. Car 34 S. Miss 14

I don't know if I'll play this game, but if I did...

I may be tempted to by back half a point.

Not sure if I'll play it either since it is more than 6 weeks away, but I have it capped at a 20 point spread with a possibility that it gets really ugly. Either way, it would be unlikely that I would ever buy a half to -13.5 because I look at this as a marathon.

The 20pts is probably about right Cie, but I'd be worried about UGA on deck to. With Tebow gone most of the teams in the East are probably thinking they may have a shot this year and the SC/Ga game will be huge for both teams. Nice record(s) btw.

Any word out there on Sturdivant for UNC? Even with Butch Davis at the helm, I would think at least a 1 game suspension is in order for a pot arrest.

The last thing I saw was two days ago. Drug charges were dropped against him. So, I imagine he may have to sit out a series at the most. Either that or one game against William & Mary later in the year.

Drug charges were dropped because he entered one of these diversion ( i think it is what it's called)programs where he is treated for dependancy and performs community service in exchange for dropped charges and possibility of clean record going forward.

Cie-Have you been to Denver already for that concert?

I changed plans for a variety of reasons, and went to the mad jack's golf outing instead. LABurns went, though. I was originally going with him.

LSU freshman DL recruit

LSU freshman DL recruit

A little off subject Cie, but have you heard where he (from Marrero) might end up? Read last night where Myles had ended up offering him a 'gray' shirt as LSU was out of schlorships. Supposedly he is interested in Tennessee, Ky, and others. I know Ky could sure some help on DL and with the injury bug that has hit Tenn, especially on the DL, I know they could use someone like him also...

Boy do I ever hate the situation. Miles waited too long for this and deserves criticism. I get on Sabear and other s about it, and it annoys me even more that Miles, who has shown great character through his time at LSU, has stooped to this level. Totally unfair to the kid.

Oregon, TAMU and Kentucky are his options from what I read locally. Good kid, too. I think he would be a nice asset for your squad.....

Cie, do you have an opinion on your Tigers in the game vs. UNC with Sturdivant playing??

GL this season, always check your plays.

Thanks. I'll be looking at UNC next week or so. Will give you my thoughts on the matchup then.

At first glance, I like LSU in this spot. UNC has multiple players in limbo, including Little and Austin. Sturdivant is playing, but he shouldn't be following an arrest for pot. Meanwhile, LSU is a focused football team playing with their pride wounded.

Thanks, dudes....

Played:

S Carolina -13.5 x2

I rarely play a large favorite, as I normally play 85-90% dogs, but Cocks return bulk of their offense, and core of a very strong D. An improved running game will help Garcia, who I am higher on than most to begin with. The USM D returns 9, but this was not a good defense last season by the numbers or by the eye test. The historically solid USM D has a few folks, including some on this board, hoodwinked. I expect an improved D from last year, but still nowhere near their usual level.

Cocks too much to handle for USM, who will have a difficult time moving the football at night in front of a highly motivated and hostile crowd in Columbia. As a throw-in, the Cocks are historically strong under Spurrier in home openers, while USM struggles historically in road openers. I realize that UGA is on deck for SC, but they are not taking this game lightly. I have it at 30-10.
